This video has so much valuable information! Especially appreciate the processing comparison.

Thanks. I thought it might be useful to show the processings comparison. Sometimes you have to choose what you think will be easier to fix so it’s good to see the difference.

Simon, do you have any tips on when trying to get mocap when sitting cross legged or lying down with this suit. Sometimes I notice I float a little.
@FeedingWolves3 жыл бұрын
Actually just got to the part where you go over these! Wow, you are amazing!
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
Ah, you’re too kind. Thank you for the kind words. Always happy to help if I can. Hope the tips in the video help solve your floating floor issue. Also check your body measurements. Sometimes it’s best to use the default measurements the software creates when you input your height and shoe/foot size, rather than adding your own.

Thanks, Miguel. Are you using the Xsens system?
@bigoMay3 жыл бұрын
@@mocappys Yes, I have been using XSens recently to explore the options within a VFX pipeline, all the way from Motion Builder to Maya and Unreal. Your video gave me a bit more detailed insight about the MVN Software and the setup of the suit, which is great!
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
Depending on what your budget and final goal is, the MVN system is a great option. For quick set-up and capture it’s hard to beat. Plenty of options for live streaming or processing to skeleton data and a usual mocap pipeline. Good luck with your investigations;)

It might be a weird question, but is there a way to use a single sensor from the suit without the entire suit? I want to check the gait activity.
@AlexKongMX3 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot for this! It was full of great tips :D I got a bit confused at the end with how the character was characterized and retargeted... is this an issue that comes from Xsens? Do you know if this will get fixed?
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
It’s just the way retargeting in MotionBuilder works and something you have to be aware of. It can happen with other data so it’s good to know about, but it’s not really anyones fault to fix, if that makes sense.

ty for the vid man ! btw, what's size is your suit ? I've bought an XL suit and would like to know if its oversized or undersized, thanks
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
It's a large. I'm about 5'7"/175cm and wear a large suit. As a rough guide, large suits cover 170-180cm/5'6”-5'9”. XL suits cover 180-195cm/5'9”-6'4”
@tagrandmere07823 жыл бұрын
@@mocappys Okay thanks for you response ! Weight don't matter so much? Recommended weight for XL is 90kg but im 70-75kg , sorry for asking again but maybe it will help some other users too !:)
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
The fit of the suit is the most important thing. It needs to be tight to stop the sensors wobbling. It might be worth using the smaller size suit to make sure it fits tight. If not, there should be some bands in the kit you can fasten round the sensors to make sure they’re secure. Good question!

Hi Mocappys, apart from the full body suit, is it possible to convert motion inertial captured through some Xsens dot single sensors on the main body parts in videos?
@BadraAl-c7j4 ай бұрын
I'm curious about that too, as I'm not sure if there a way to use a single sensor from the suit without the entire suit? I want to check the gait activity.

I'd love to, but I don't have an optitrack system...or the space in my house. Maybe one day.

How much of this video is applicable to the Awinda?
@mocappys2 жыл бұрын
I haven't used the Awinda system, so it's hard to say. The pricipals of using an inertial mocap system are the same and the software used is the same, I think, so hopefully there'll be something useful in there for you

How much did you pay for it for?
@mocappys3 жыл бұрын
The system in the video was kindly on loan from Xsens.
@DJ-oy5eg3 жыл бұрын
@@mocappys I don't believe you that you do such an extensive video for a "loan". I think they paid you by giving you the suit.
