This is actually the first video 've watched, introducing "the anamorphic world" in a way I can understand. It's still really complicated, but now I at least know a little bit more about the complication. It's difficult but also a lot of fun. You know, the good feeling of never stop learning new things😊 Thanks a lot.

Fantastic explanation well done. The only thing you missed is why anamorphic came to be. In the 1950s as television threatened the movie business filmmakers were looking for a way to compete with the little square screen in every home. Great job!

Fantastic introduction to Anamorphic. I have two Panasonic cameras that can record in open gate and have got to try this some time. Very hesitant until I watched this video.

Great job! My understanding has certainly increased from watching you. My issue, like other 'budget amateurs' I suppose, is having a mixture of real (just one in fact) and fake (modified Russian) anamorphic lenses. The need is then to get these all looking like they belong together. I now at least have some idea of the challenge ahead. Many thanks.

HELP! I desqueezed the video to 1.33. Seems OK on the camera but after downloading the video is not desqueezed? Can you please help me?
@Josh_Sattin9 ай бұрын
Desqueezing in camera is just for display purposes. On most cameras it doesn't bake the desqueeze into the recorded image. You need to do that in post like I mention in this video.

Thank you for this information, very helpful. My first anamorphic is in the mail! I have an fx3 and was wondering if I should should shoot dci vs s-I 4k, and what the differenece would be? I ordered the samyang anamorphic adapter which is a 1.7 squeeze

Interesting video! Thanks for making this. It all does seem rather complex, but looks cool! I'm just wondering, do anamorphic lenses like these autofocus? I can't seem to find info on that aspect of this whole deal...
@Josh_Sattin16 күн бұрын
You're welcome! As of now I am not aware that there are any autofocus anamorphic lenses on the market. Blazar did just announce that they are working on one though.

Hi Josh. Do you know if there is an issue with Canon IBIS and shooting anamorphic?
@Josh_SattinАй бұрын
From what I've heard, most IBIS systems will struggle with anamorphics. The only brand I can think of is Lumix where they have specific anamorphic IBIS support. I haven't tested this all though.

Hi! I left IBIS during my shoot using SIRUI anamorphic. My footages are now wobbly. Is that normal or is there a way to fix that? Thank you. Shot on FX3 Active IBIS, monitor with ATOMOS
@cousinwil58087 ай бұрын
Ibis and in camera digital stab are bad news with anamorphic lenses, it can’t understand what it’s seeing on the sensor… turn it off, get a tripod or gimbal.

What if you shooting and using both type of lens anamorphic and spherical? I want use a spherical lens and match the anamorphic as well. Should I have my spherical in particular setting or should I do anything in post:? Or Can i leave it both at 16:9?
@Josh_Sattin7 ай бұрын
Different lenses have a different look. You will have to make sure you desqueeze and crop the anamorphic in post to match the spherical footage.
