How to Use Art References

I was reading like a couple art books like this animation book called drawn to life. And animators say you shouldn't really copy what you're seeing. One to one you have to capture the gesture to make it feel alive, not just copy. I never really liked representational art where you're trying to like, copy something or make it so put a realistic that it looks like a photograph. Because that kind of defeats the purpose a camera can do that. It's also less creative. stylized art I think is more difficult than realism. You have to use your imagination to design shapes and things like that. And like hyper realistic art, you just have to copy what you're seeing. It doesn't require that much imagination for you to come up with an interesting idea. I think when like the camera was invented a lot of art changed and they stopped doing like hyperealism and then other art movements came into play like modernism impressionism. There were still realistic portraits but not as many.

One of my old college peers always picked out my art and pointed out the references I used. Because of that, I rarely(or never) create more artwork for the public because of insecurity. But now I discovered that it's normal to use references like this from your video and also from many other artists. Thank you so much!

Muito obrigado pelo vídeo e suas ótimas sugestões. Em 2018 o canal Tokyosaurus publicou o vídeo Dragon Ball Super Artist Tracing Fiasco, depois do seu vídeo eu revi esse conteúdo e gostaria de saber a sua opinião. Por favor, referente ao vídeo do canal citado, você acha que a referência foi usada de maneira "equivoca", ou seja, o artista poderia ter oferecido mais? Outra coisa, em material oficial, como mangá e histórias em quadrinhos, é inadequado que o Goku, Vegeta ou outro personagem fique na pose de algum personagem de outra obra? Fiz essas duas perguntas, pois não acho que foi um plágio, mas também não acho que foi bem uma homenagem. Obrigado pela atenção e sucesso.
