What do you think of the Assimil book? Do you recommend it. Or do you prefer the Le Francais Par Le Methode Nature?

Both of these books have their own places. I recommend both of these books, but they need to be used at the right time to benefit better. Let me add a third book so things get more clear for you. 1 - When a person is new to language, A1 level. Then books like Teach Yourself or Hugo 3 months series etc will work best. They explain things a lot and at that stage, you need it. 2 - When a person reaches good A2 level, then Assimil book will work great and will help go to B1 level. 3 - In order to get better at B1 level and go above, we need to ditch translations and focus content more and more in French language, for that we will use Le Francais Par Le Methode Nature. Short summery, both are great resources, but should be used at the right time. And I used both of them.

@AdamYLM I have watched a few of your videos, and I must say that you go above and beyond in your videos and explanations. My daughter and I are beginners in french. I'm trying to teach her, which is challenging when I am a beginner myself. I will get the beginner books you mentioned and start with those. We also read kids' french books, and we watch French Facile on KZbin he speaks very slowly and has dual subtitles. I have started to learn french to help my daughter as she is learning French in school. The last time I learnt french was in high school. Thanks again for your thorough explanation.

There's also the 1940s French Assimil.

Assimil is a very old company created in 1929. So yes, you can find really old books of Assimil.

I've got that one too. Still, going through textbooks and never getting past them is akin to "tutorial hell" where someone learning software development keeps going through tutorials and courses without building something themselves.
