Can i reach to B1 level fluency if i use assimil french for listening and reading and pimsleur for speaking?I regularly watch innerfrench podcast for 30 minutes.
@AdamYLM7 күн бұрын
So there are three things here: 1 - If you can understand InnerFrench podcast properly, your listening level is at least mid B1 level. 2 - Going through Assimil French book will not make you fluent in B1 reading. You can read this book, but you need further reading material to progress further in your reading skills. 3 - Then comes Pimsleur and speaking skills, since you are at a level that you can understand InnerFrench pods, using Pimsleur will not help you much in new vocabulary and grammar as you already know it, Pimsleur might look big but the French they teach is very basic. Only benefit Pimsleur will give you is that your speaking skills will improve.

Very good review. I worked through this book. Though it was easy for me, I still learned some things. I'm currently halfway through Using French, but that won't get you to the C1 level either. I have Assimil's C1 courses for German and Russian, but the French is quite advanced, so I'm going to have to do some extensive reading in French for the vocabulary. I've been working through Assimil's B2 Italian course and it's been helping me out greatly. Still, knowing other Romance languages helps. Even so, there are words in Italian you simply don't see in closely related languages.

Thank you for the extremely helpful and accurate review. I am half way through the Assimil French and have found pretty much everything you said to be true. I have studied for about a year and find this book perfect for me now. A true beginner would be totally lost and frustated with this book. Would love to see a review of the advanced assimil French perfectionnement.

Thank you for kind words. Reason I haven't touched that book is because its for those people who want to go from B2 level to C1. Right now I am at B1 level and if I study that book right now, it will overwhelm me. I have two advance books that I will be using, first one is Hugo advanced French, then I will be using Assimil. But before that, first I need to go to B2 level.

@@AdamYLMThat's actually smart. It's a huge jump. I ran into that when I tried the C1 German book after completing their B2 German course, and the French as the L1 is advanced too.

I'm halfway through Using French. While it's good, I don't think it's going to take you to C1 either. Still, I recommend it as well as extensive reading in French to get to C1.

At the beginning of the video you have a picture of the 2020 version of French with ease which is totally different from the version you review. The 2020 version is all new and a much longer and more detailed course. Good review by the way. I've used it myself and it was very enjoyable

Yes. All books regardless of their print versions teach the same way. In next video after this, I talk about different versions of this book too.

Is purchasing the book alone enough without audio ?
@AdamYLMАй бұрын
You need audio with this book. Unless a teacher is teaching you, this book and other language books, they all need audio to study with.

Hi Have you bought Assimil French and what is your progress so far ?
@ultimateninjanoob15 сағат бұрын
@@veselinivanov7208 I have done 15 chapters so far out of 100. It is not easy. If someone is complete beginner then this book will take some time because native french audio is not very easy to understand as they speak normally , not slow. From 15 chapter onward they do not even repeat second time. So you have to listen multiple times to grasp. The difficulty also increases. It is not like Duolingo.
