I have had one of these for some years now and I love it..... just takes a bit of getting used to. P.s. I never buy ready made binding I make all mine... and I make quite big quilts...

Thankyou for taking the time to comment, at I just ask.... as a quilter, do you still need yours to maintain its stretch in the bias. I can see that it's folding nicely but if the stretch goes then its no good to me. I'm interested because I want it to work but at the moment, it's not making for me What it says on the box. Thankyou, Tree

I haven't used mine yet but this is good information. I'm glad I only paid $20 for it I'll probably just use the binding created with for decorative trim.

Did you cut your strips the correct width to start with?. Watching the cotton struggling to feed it does look like it was too wide, if the attachment says 1 inch then you cut your strip 2inches wide. This is just a thought and definitely not a criticism.

Hello, thankyou but yes....try the suggested size, smaller, tried all sorts of things....it just pulled all the stretch out of the Bias but maybe something was wrong with mine.

Appreciate your honest review. My husband got me this machine for Christmas and I just took it out of the box the other day and have spent hours trying to get it to work. All I really wanted it for was 21/2” binding for my quilts and just loading the fabric into the 1 1/4” attachment is a nightmare. The smaller sizes may feed better but when you pointed out the loss of stretch, I’m sending it back if I can. Thank you!

It was just my experience, other people seem to love theirs. Just as easy to us a little metal bias binding maker or fold a piece of card and thread through the channel as you iron
@elainefagin5134 жыл бұрын
I have a product similar to this (mine makes piping,too) and I've had it for years. I think yours is defective. Mine runs evenly and smoothly and makes perfect binding. It saves me burnt fingers from the iron. I have only used it on cotton, but I have never had it get held up like yours did. Maybe you should exchange it for a new one.
@StitchlessTV4 жыл бұрын
Really....well that is good to know. Thankyou. Trree
@sherylahlberg6490 Жыл бұрын
I believe that since you are trying to stretch it with all the folded layers, with the threads going in three directions, you would need to unfold it and test the stretch that way. My suspicion is that it would still stretch if you try stretching just as a single layer.

Nice little machine. I imagine it is very handy for bias requiring projects. Perhaps the iron is too tight on the tape, that is why it is stretch feeding it through.

I wonder if you didn’t click the iron bit in (I agree it looks as though you should) there would be less pressure but it would still iron it and there would be more stretch. Let us know if you try that!

Is there any way of reducing the pressure on the iron part Tree? I have just tested a piece of shop bought bias binding, and it does not have a huge amount of stretch, maybe about 1/4 inch for a 5 inch piece of the binding. Is the stretch better when stretching a longer piece? Or when the binding has cooled down? I just use a bias maker with an iron, and lots of fiddling, the problem for me is figuring out the width of fabric to use with the Clover gadget. Thanks for the review, very disappointing for you.
@StitchlessTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes ...I wondered that but this has nothing, no stretch and has ended up alot narrower. When so hace calmed down will investigate pressure of feedingvwheels. ..but seems to b3 a fine line with the feeding bit, not enough and nothing goes through. I will report back but Thankyou so much for giving it some thought. Tree Xx

My machine cost me under $100.00 when they weren't "popular" you might say... Yes, they are problematic and not all the are cracked up to be. Its not hot enough to make a permanent press ...i still finish off pressing with an iron. The speed setting needs to be slower to set the press. Great idea, but needs updating.
@StitchlessTV4 жыл бұрын
That's interesting to hear ...does yours pull all the stretch out of the bias tape? Or are you still left with some stretch in your folded binding. Thankyou so much for the feedback. Tree Xx
