Hi Maliek. Is there a blend mode that can create a grad filter with adjustable soft wipe line? I shoot landscape videos for stock and in backlit landscapes I'd like to set sky for darker exposure than land to average out the exposure between sky and land, maybe add a color to the sky like orange, red or purple, to give clouds more character. Soft wipe transition between two of the same clip does it, but it's a transition, it moves. How do I make the wipe line stay still? Thanks.
@PDU_Tutorials5 жыл бұрын
Have you tried using a mask to create a line between the two clips? Then you can apply the blend mode to each clip separately. Watch my clone effect where I show how to use a mask to make two video clips appear that they are one. You can also watch my mask designer tutorial.

Hey I’m getting back into getting familiar with this software. Been working on mixing and mastering ion my audio software. I don’t understand how to simply find a normal dissolve transition. Each video footage you add off course is a cut but only way I figured out was a pain to get to using the fade in/out feature. Is there a easier way to just do fade in, fade to black, dissolve, cut? Thanks for your videos also wondering how you do videos showing the computer screen like that and recording talking. I watch many more videos on recording music and want to start my own audio production channel. Any input would be great! Thanks! Matt

Hi I'm in the UK I've just started using Power Director 15 and film on PAL recording at 30fps - I have an issue where when I come to produce my video the file size it produces is very large. I recently created a movie of an hour and it produced a 5GB file...I try and produce it in MP4 using H264.AVC - 1280/720. I also use ISKYSOFT video editor and when I produced the same movie using this its file size was 2GB. Is there a way of reducing the production file size but maintaining the quality? I am also using a LENOVO laptop at 1.30GHZ / AMD QC4000 processor / 8GB RAM / 64Bit OS on Windows 10....can you recommend a faster processor to prevent the application locking up as I use it? Great tuorials by the way...thanks.
@PDU_Tutorials8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my tutorials. If you want the same quality there is no way to reduce the file size. The only way I can think of would be to choose a different file format and reducing the bitrate which would both decrease quality. The effects and transitions being used could also effect the file size. If you want additional ideas on how to reduce the file size try asking about this on the PowerDirector forum. forum.cyberlink.com/forum/forums/list/ENU.page I do not make recommendations for system requirements. The best route to take is to make sure your processor exceeds the minimum system requirements listed on the CyberLink website.

What is the file extension of the video you are trying to upload? Make sure that you go to the Produce tab, select H.264 / .MP4, select the location on your computer to save the file, and click start. After you do that go to KZbin and try to upload the .MP4 file. Hey Professor - when I go to download effects or what ever they disappear never to be found anywhere - can you do a tutorial on choosing items and loading them directly into your project (which is why I wanted them) as well I would like to find items or objects with opaque backgrounds I can send across the screens - one more - I see other's videos where their scene is swallowed like a black hole descending - how do I do that? - you are the man slowly turning me into a pro - thanks so much.
@PDU_Tutorials8 жыл бұрын
I assume you are talking about the DirectorZone. This document tells you the file locations. file:///Users/Shawn/Downloads/CyberLink%20Filing.pdf Once there you double left click on the file and it will be in the correct room in PowerDirector. The scene being swallowed is probably a transition.

Confusing!! Is blending just a transition on steroids?
@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken8 жыл бұрын
no. it's literally in the name. it's how you blend images and videos together
@PDU_Tutorials8 жыл бұрын
Not really +Karl Kelley. Transitions come in all shapes sizes and colors (cross dissolves, overlaps, specialty shapes, etc.). They are also only used to transition from one clip to another. The transition is an immediate or gradual change in opacity from one clip to the other. There is an actual change being made to each clip as the transition is created. Blend modes mix the pixels from each image together to create one image. There is no change to opacity. Each image is equal and it is a non-destructive change to the clips. You can change the opacity of the blend mode but the images are not changed.
@karlkelley91038 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick lesson, Maliek. It still seems like blending makes more sense for still photos than for videos. But I'm going to try it out and see what results I can get.

Unlike others, I found this video really difficult to watch. As constructive criticism, it would have been great to show WHAT blends look like up front, then explain WHY you would want to do blends. Once I get that, I am motivated want to know HOW to do it. Without knowing the end result, I was sitting there wondering why you were clicking on different things. May be it’s just me, but that it made it frustrating to watch.
