Besides the rust hole repairs and welding. I enjoy the body filler work as well.

My 1967 Mercury Cougar is my first car and still have it 27 years later. It’s not perfect. It’s got 20/20 paint. 20 feet at 20mph, it looks great. It runs and drives. I drive it regularly during summer. On occasion. I drive it on nice Nebraska winter days. Co workers give me crap about driving it during winter. I tell them for 7 years during high school and after college, that was my only car. I parked it in 2005 for 16 until getting it going in 2021.

My 67 doesn't leave the garage if there is even a 10% chance of rain or wind over 10 mph. I decided not to take it to a car show that I had paid registration for because it had rained the day before and there were puddles in the road. I treat the car like its priceless and unreplaceable.

NICE !!. My dad drove his mach 1 to work laying carpet and linoleum with his tools at the back seat down .You are right about daily user as these cars were not designed to last more than five years as were all other cars. Style only lasted 2 years on average.

15:03 at a certain point after you've knocked down all of the big stuff and got your contour or your dual panel gap bridged, would you want to switch over to a half size block to just allow you to more easily manipulate the area or is that going to cause an issue? Because as I see it the point of contact on the block is determined by the panel contour shape. Trust and believe I am not questioning you. I am questioning me by questioning you 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Thanks for the advise and wisdom. What do you apply on small areas that have small rust pits.
@JoDaddysGarage3 ай бұрын
I clean out what I can and treat with naval jelly or an acid based rust inhibitor.

You mentioned adding some music, my vote would be no. I like the real sounds of somebody working vs the distraction of other sounds.

Does absolutely all of the guide coat have to be removed prior to epoxy? I realize you’re sanding until the surfaces are level, so none should be left, but would any residual cause adhesion issues?
@JoDaddysGarage3 ай бұрын
I make sure it’s off, but I can’t say if it would affect the epoxy.

What about the quarter panel medallion? Did the original have them? (Just started the video so I have no clue if you mention it lol)

They were on the original car. May have to use double stick tape.

16:50 I'm stopping it right here because this is something that I used to come across a lot. I noticed the underside of your long block with the I think you said you now at 180 grit that you have a spot on the paper that will just build and not sand and Skip. Granted you are doing this for video purposes to show but I just remember times when my sandpaper would get. I forget what the word is. It's called something God. I hate it when I can't remember a word, but it's when the paper gets impacted with the material that you're sanding off and I think I used to come across it more often for myself. Learning how to mix body filler and my body filler wasn't hard enough yet. Anyway, believe it or not, videos like this are very important.
@JoDaddysGarage3 ай бұрын
Good filler usually doesn’t gum up the paper very much.
