Greatly explained video. I got a question, I have installed this software on my desktop and using Behringer UMC204HD. I am using the regular computer speaker which are connected to my desktop. When I hooked up the guitar and selected the option of speaker to be heard, do I need separate monitors for it or I can hear the guitar playing over computer speakers?

great and helpful video, thank you. i'm having some problems to add fade, for some reason when i get the mouse at the top corner, the symbol doesn't show up to me, is that a setting thing? plus i made a guitar loop and a drum loop but when i try to add the guitar track in the same project, it turns into drums, why is that? what am i doing wrong?

Hey brother, I noticed when you were dragging instruments into the timeline, the track panel auto-created Folders for the instrument type... Drums, Piano.... How did you do that? I typically create the track folder manually.

My personal preference would be to use third party plugins for mastering. If you like a do it yourself approach, IZotope Ozone Standard or Advanced come with a decent set of mastering tools. Or you could download the free Ozone EQ and find a decent limiter and do a bit of mastering. If you want a free mastering service then you can easily use Bandlab’s free mastering where you just upload your song and let AI do the work for you. You could release a song without mastering. Your mix before mastering should be excellent so if you release it without doing mastering it should still sound excellent. Mastering is intended to take your excellent mix and just add some final touches to enhance it even more.

For some reason I can't hear the track I've recorded when I playback. I can the hear synths I'm playing I can see output on the mixer I have the inputs and outputs set in the program and on my computers audio settings. I'm using a scarlet 2i2.

I find Mixcraft 10 to be a lot quicker and easier to navigate. They are both excellent programs and have different workflows so it would depend on what you prefer. You can get a trial of Mixcraft 10 and see if that works for you. If not Cakewalk is great and free right now. If you get the Mixcraft 10 Pro version then you get some nice Cherry Audio instruments with it too.

Would you happen to know why when I try record vocals into cakewalk it sounds very robotic yet in any other software its normal? for someone who wants to also record vocals into I can't find a fix online fore this issue either

Robotic can mean different things to different people so I’m not really sure but some things to check are: If you’re using ASIO as your driver type then make sure your buffer size/length isn’t too small. Make sure you have the latest Asio driver for your device. Get it directly from the manufacturers website. If your device doesn’t have an Asio driver that you can get from the manufacturer try using the WASAPI Shared driver type. Make sure your sample rate is the same as the sample rate you have set in windows. 44.1khz or 48khz is typical.

Audio when monitoring only comes through one ear. I use electric guitar which isn't stereo, is there anyway of making the monitoring of the instrument mono???

I downloaded cakewalk not too long ago to make my own home studio, and whenever I open cakewalk and go to new project in the start screen nothing comes up. It doesn't look like yours or give me any options to make new tracks of any kind. I've tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it but that hasn't worked. Maybe your audio settings aren’t setup right. I’ve had issues with audio settings in the past where it wouldn’t open a project. But other than that I don’t know.

If you are unsure of what an amp is or 80% of the stuff in the video maybe you should be starting with just some general music knowledge before jumping into recording and mixing. Or if you are unsure of what an amp is then maybe you won’t be needing one so there’s no need to worry about it you could just ignore that part of the video. I do show what a plugin is and what a bank is when I’m talking about it though. And I do show an amp plugin which is pretty straight forward of what it is. You can probably google what a guitar amp is. Also what a music production plugin is and any other term that you don’t understand. It’s understandable that you don’t know what everything is which is why I do show the stuff that I’m talking about.

Hii, i recently installed cakewalk and read the terms and conditions but I have a few doubts, they say that i cannot profit from any sounds of the program so if I make a song i cannot profit from it?

You cannot sell the sounds as they are un altered. Like sampling there instruments and just selling the samples as they are. If you make music in the program then you will be fine. It’s a very popular program that has been used for years by musicians and producers that make money from music that they create. However if you still feel uncomfortable then use another program. There are lots out there.

If you download cakewalk now you can use the current version for free for as long as you want. The new Cakewalk Sonar won’t be free and will likely be released in 2024 at some point. Once it’s released and Cakewalk Now are released then the current Cakewalk will no longer be available to new users for free but existing users can continue using it with no updates.

I feel stdanded. Cakewalk only comes with one drum kit, one bass, one strings and one electric piano. I’d love to add more VST instruments, but if I try to buy any additional instruments on Cakewalk’s site, it only gives me the announcement of Cakewalk’s discontinuation if services. What now??

You don’t need to buy them from Cakewalk. There’s tons of free ones like in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJLPemqfgK9rl5Y You can install any VST or vst3 plugin and use it in Cakewalk. Cakewalk by default does a plugin scan on startup, if you install VST3 plugins it will find those no problem. If you install the older VST2 version then you will have to go into preferences and make sure you set the plugin folder for your VST2 plugins. Pretty much all newer plugins will come in VST3 so I recommend installing that and then it’s much easier to work with in Cakewalk.

I have and I believe the way I fixed it was by going into preferences, devices and making sure its set to whatever output device youre using and driver then settings and making sure playback master is set to the same. I'm not sure though but I'm pretty sure that's how I got it to work
