I’ve had ChessBase for a number of years. Like many great players, I love Chess! Trying to learn how to use Chessbase can be cryptic using the manual. Some of the online channels are so opinionated and wordy that it’s not easy to learn from them when my time is limited. Thank you so very much for being specific and concise.

I'm amazed at how few videos there are for this well known product. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Yeah, actually when I first got the product I was also surprised, which is why 5-6 months after I started using it I decided my make this video :) I am glad you found it helpful!

Can you elaborate how to use engines combined with the chessbase boards and other new engines/cloud engines
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
There should be an engine already on the software when u first download it, to add another one you need to download stockfish (or a diff engine) online and add it, search on youtube how to add it, as I remeber when I was first learning their were some nice videos that helped, I think they will help easier then me typing it out!

I would espect such an expensive software to connect automatically to my lichess account and make my games in a db available.

That would be very cool

Hi i have a question, when you make a search and you get a list of games , so how do i do to select all games and save them all at once, as a separate database?
@ChessGeek18 ай бұрын
Not sure if this is the question, but you can highlight all of them using cntrl, and then right click to get actions you can do with all of them

What does the "Generate Threats" option (engine settings) do? I see it generates a red/white arrow on the board, but I don't understand what this is supposed to be.
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
To my understanding, this shows the main threat (or at least the threat the computer can see) behind the move played

Do you need to buy Chessbase 16 separately to use Mega Database 2022?
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
I believe, it is 2 separate products. You can buy chessbase 16 only (and then use a different database or no database at all) and you can also buy the mega database 2022 separately (and load it up onto a different software - I assume there is some good free softwares/websites that can handle big database). I hope this helped and made sense

First of all ... please be aware my first language is not english so maybe some of my words gonna look strange. I already have Fritz 17 and i already make great things with this tools. However, it seems like the chessbase 16 program possess some really interesting additional tools. It's a hard decision because the progam is near 200 $ so ... i know it's delicate question but i'm interested in the product and i work a lot on my chess so based on your work with this product is-it worth the additional investissement?
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
Hi, firstly your English was great! This question really depends on many things: your rating, your areas of strength/weaknesses, your goals, etc. chessbase offers some pretty neat stuff, but unless one feature is truly critical for your development, I think you can find slight worse, but similar things for free. Like lichess studies, and chessgames.com for the mega database. So just make sure you have a clear and serious reason for how you will use chessbase. Hopefully this helped

@@ChessGeek1 I download the chessbase 16 pdf user manual to have a better idea and i definitely gonna get it. I'll start with the Starter package and eventually i'll bought the endgame Turbo 5. As i said before i already do a lot of things with Fritz 17, however chessbase 16 have a lot of additionals tools which seem to me to deserve the investment. Thanks for your time and have fun with chess.

Do i need big or mega Database to create my own Database?
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
To make your own database, neither. You can open up chessbase and make as many bases as you want. The purchasable database (big or mega) are just so you can use them as reference.
