This looks fantastic! Sometimes we have to sacrifice a wee bit of fabric to achieve these simplified block techniques. I think I'm going to have to try this for sure. Love all the tutorials, thank you!

I loved all the tips you gave in the tutorial. I had not seen the trimming at the point. I could have used that one when I made my Lone Star...Love your tutorials...

Like this pattern. The entire block before trimming, also somehow seems could make a nice block. Plan on buying this ruler. You have an easy listing voice, and you give directions that are easy for beginners to follow, as well as the seasonal quilters. Thank You.

Pretty block.... But....Ahhhhh! You trimmed a beautiful block! I would have left the block untrimmed and figured out a way to use it. Like your tutorials though!

That is a neat ruler. I like the trimmed block, but wonder what you would have to do to use the block if you don't trim it. It would probably be pretty too.

...it goes without saying, that quilters always save scraps to use in future projects...this video is about using the ruler, not what she ends up doing with the scraps...she does not throw them away...they are used in scrap quilts, applique, pin cushions, hot pads, mug rugs....

HI, I have your book and the Creative Grids Starburst 30 Degree Triangle Ruler, and I am having trouble getting all 8 points to meet. Each half looks perfect, but when I go to sew from the middle out on each side, something gets all wonky. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Really pretty. Thank you for the video. I have a question. Could I use this ruler to make a 5 point star block and if so, how would I do that?
@FatQuarterShopTX
@FatQuarterShopTX 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Gabi! No, the Starburst ruler cannot be used to make a 5-point star. I think you would need a ruler or template with a 72-degree angle for this, or most simply a template for a 5-point star.

Yep, actually they are. We came up with the exclusive 5" x 10" precut ourselves so decided to name them Jolly Bars.

Pretty block... but not a ruler I will buy, it requires to much “Wasted” fabric.

I've just found this and loved the tutorial. Can't believe the negative comments though. Nobody is forcing you to make the quilt and "waste" fabric. You don't "get" quilting? Then why are you here? I don't "get"t golf so I don't watch it. Pretty simple really.

I'm in agreement about the waste of fabric, particularly when the individual pieces were cut with the ruler. Additionally, the final joining of the two halves should have been credited to Adyta Sitar. I watched the tutorial where she used that technique and explained why you sew from the middle rather than from end to end.

I"ve been trimming a V to remove bulk and sewing half the seam long before Edyta Sitar. Those are basic sewing techniques seamstress have known for years and cannot be attributed to any one person.

wasted a lot of fabric!I thought quilting used up "left over" scrapes of cloth so you don't waste fabric.... I don't get quilting
@heidilynnm2602

SoCal Gal a lot of quilters have methods to not waste fabric... others don’t care if they waste fabrics they want a “certain” look and an easy way of getting it. It’s really the individuals not quilters as a whole.
