I tried for half an hour but could never get the scan done. I was trying to use a 12 x 24 mat with a piece of craft foam on it, but the image just kept jiggling all over the place. I tried a dark wood floor, a beige carpet, and a dark green bedspread, all no joy. What a disappointment. Any suggestions?

That’s frustrating. I honesty haven’t tried snap mat with the larger mat before. I may have to do some experimenting. Can you put your pieces on the 12x12 mat instead? If you need the larger mat instead of using snap mat just manually move your pieces on your screen according to where you placed them on your mat. All the best.

How do you get the blue dots to line up/stay still? I have an iPad and it will not take the pic!!

Sometimes I do find it tricky to get the picture and sometimes it works right away. Play around with it by turning your iPad the other way or laying your mat on a different surface or in different lighting and see if that helps.

Did not even know about the snap mat. But on the same token, I only use desktop to work with design space.

I enjoy using desktop as well and in most cases it has more features then using a phone or iPad however snapmap is definitely a fun addition to the app.

Would it be possible for you to do a demo of scanning and loading the pumpkin into Design Space and cutting out the actual outline of the pumpkin? I have really been wanting the ability to do this (similar to Brother Scan and Cut)... but alas, I have an Android.

That’s frustrating. Sometimes it works very quickly for me and other times it takes a few minutes. Try different lighting or turning your iPad in a different direction. I hope you can get it to work.

i also like designing on my desktop...unfortunately it is not in my craft space so often I use a surface pro or iphone to make the project. Snap mat is very tricky on an iphone... I am sure it is easier on an ipad,

Yes it can be tricky to snap that picture. I find sometimes it happens super fast other times it takes a bit. However I do find it much easier to use the canvas on the iPad than the phone because there is a bigger surface to work with. Happy crafting.

I’m not sure why that happens sometimes but yes that can be super frustrating. Instead of doing snapmat you can always arrange your scraps on your mat and then move your images around on your screen to line up with the placement of your vinyl.
