This is an instructional video on how to use Dakine Baja Surfboard Straps. The pads I'm using are the larger 28" length designed for a paddleboard. The straps are 12' long and you can strap up to 4 small boards (side by side + double stacked). The racks are made by VW.

This is probably the best Surfboard Roofrack tie down tutorial on youtube, clearly and concisely explained without rushing the visuals. Took far too long to find this. Cheers dude!

The internet is a weird place. I was just looking for a better way to strap my board onto my car and then realize that the tutorial is by a guy that I used to hang out with almost 20 years ago at Jerm Wright's place in Solana Beach! Cheers Skip! Hope your doing well!

For the loose excess, do what Bob did but 1st, estimate where the strap gets trapped by the door mounding's soft seal, add a few inches, tie a snug (not tight) knot in the strap, spin in a few twists so the strap again vibrates less in the wind, close the strap in the door. Now its properly trapped.

Hey I just have one question if you be kind enough to answer. Why did you tie one side of the board in the bars across your car, and then on the other side you tied it on the car bars? Doesn't that give room to the board to move around to the side of the car bar knot while on the road?

It’s been so long since I made this video, I honestly can’t remember, but I believe I was showing the 2 different ways it can be attached depending on your car rack set up. If you have an existing roof rack, go ahead and attach it to both sides. That’s normally how I tie mine down. Also give your straps a few twist and you won’t get flutter on the freeway - cheers!

Well... put fins facing front since the board will probably fall behind the car, if that happened. Fins would catch the strap and stop the board. I'd put something between the board and the straps, to protect it or at least not let the metal parts touch the board when everything's tight, even in case we carry epoxy boards
@brockhalter3564
@brockhalter3564 4 жыл бұрын
You also put the board on backwards like he did to avoid the headwind force from pressing down on the board rocker (less stress).
