Thanks - great video. I hate when people say "tutorial" and then just plug or do a "commercial" I just started using Distrokid and you helped get me a little more comfy! How about a question? Can you edit details (not the song) of releases that you have already uploaded. Things like which streaming platform, Preview clip start time, genre, etc.

Cover art is a pretty personal thing. I’d say ask an artist you like or take a photo or something that feels like the song. There are no wrong answers!

In my experience, it's always been on time! Sometimes one or two stores may lag behind, but Spotify and Apple music usually update super quickly.

great video thanks , i wanna ask u about distrokid , im having a strange issue with them , my songs got over a 10k streams in april i recived the royalties for them in june for just 1k streams , and now its july and i got the royalties for may its says 20k only when i got over 40k in may not 20K streams like the report says , so any idea whats wrong ?

I believe I do: they payout a few months after metrics are accumulated. I believe this is due to things like platform advertisements and making sure all the data is correct. You should see your payouts match your streams more directly over time.

New to DistroKid and I'd like to use the KZbin Content ID feature. How do I prevent flagging myself? I'd like to make my own art tracks and upload them to my KZbin channel, but don't want to be flagged for using my own music, if that make sense.

You can "whitelist" yourself if you get a flag since you are the publisher, I would just make sure the ID's matched you should be fine - might even want to notify DSP.

You do not, I’m pretty sure! They do all the implementing for you. You can create an artist account for any of the platforms after the fact.

Good Video. However what I am finding no one is mentioning if you have to have accounts already with the services they are going to distribute to. Example Spotify ITunes so and so on. If you need accounts with the services you should do that first.

Yes this is something I've meant to cover more closely. I've only used them with existing accounts, but I'm almost certain that if you don't they automatically create an artist profile for you which you can claim later.

I believe it’s better for distribution to do it all at once, just in case third party stores get confused.

I have a 10 song album. I want to release the songs one by one, month by month so that I can discuss each track and aim for a bigger pull on my socials as opposed to dumping the entire thing down at once and hoping for the best. My question is, can I release these songs one by one then eventually pour them all into one album art while maintaining each songs analytics? If so, I would like to then delete the album art for all 10 and just have them compiled into the one. Hopefully this makes sense.

I have an issue with my uploads recently to DistroKid and I have not gotten any resolution yet. The audio wave file says that it is only one or two seconds in length. I cannot figure out why. The file plays on my cpu and on three other social media platforms, but DistroKid keeps saying the file cannot upload. Please help I am getting so frustrated will this. Anyone know anything about what to do.?

Schmo - (1.) Does DistroKidd actually keep tabs/ keeps count of the number of times that your song is played on Radios (so that you are *paid per radio play)?* (2.) If not - what platform will and what is their price? (3.) Will Tunecore automatically submit your music to platforms such as ( Spotify, Apple Music, Itunes, KZbin Music, Google Play AND 150 other stores.... the same way DistroKidd does?) (3.) 1. There are statistics in your dashboard that will help you keep a general look over everything. I'd highly recommend making Artist Profiles on the platforms you use the most to keep better track of your releases. 2. Sort of answered above. 3. Tunecore will also do the job, but I have found their process to be slightly more sluggish (and more expensive). 4. That being said, I do use both. My first few pieces of music live on a Tunecore account and they auto-renew yearly with my earnings, which is nice. Personally, DistroKid is the way to go.

Am I forced to use my real name in the song writer section? The answer from DK is "Typically, songwriters are listed using real names--not stage names or rapper names or band names." But it isn't explicit that I MUST use my real name.

I don’t think it’s a must. It’s more to make songwriting credits consistent, if you are in multiple projects or have a royalty account with ASCAP, etc.

Distrokid is crap they just deleted all my songs with thousands of streams and they didn't even notice me..i email them and they said this👇 Hi, Hope you are well.
