Great review! Thanks for doing this. I know that some features will override others, but I don't know where an all-encompassing list is. For example, when I set my thermostat to "HOLD", it still seems to adjust a degree or so to try to save me energy. It's a bit annoying because when I'm home, I just want it to maintain a hold setting. It's doing this regardless of where I set it (in the ecobee app, on Amazon Alexa app, or on the thermostat itself. I'm going to call ecobee to confirm this. UODATE: I found out why it is adjusting! It's Geofence! If you use this feature, it will adjust to your location (cell phone). There are options in Geofence to tell it what to do based on your location within or away from the Geofence radius. In summary, Geofence location WILL override HOLD settings.

Awesome video. Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful in setting up my new Ecobee Premium. I also found your "How to Install" video very helpful. Something that I found useful was figuring out how to create and add custom "Comfort Settings" beyond the three default (Home, Away, and Sleep) that are standard. Our utility company has a "Super Off-peak" time each day that I wanted to take advantage of, so I now have two different "Home" comfort settings by creating a custom comfort setting. One thing I don't have on my Ecobee app is the Autopilot option. After some research, I found that it is only available to Smart Security and/or Smart Camera customers.

8:12 re: "Fan hold" - At least during the summer, be careful with this setting. It will raise your humidity, since your AC has likely been cooling and therefore has caused condensation to build up around or below your coils (this is due to the humidity that was removed, likely something you want in the summer). Running the fan will then take that removed humidity and reintroduce it into your home. In very dry climates this is probably a plus (e.g. AZ) but if you're in FL or another hot/humid state, you probably might want to avoid doing that.

Just push the "X" next to it and it will cancel that setting. Alternatively, you can select HOLD, or just leave it alone. What it is doing is going to the next scheduled setting.

Great Video! I ran into an issue with having the 'Adjust Temperature for Humidity' feature activated. My Premium was displaying a measured temperature that was 5-7 degrees below the actual ambient temperature but I wasn't able to use the Temperature Correction feature to adjust the displayed temperature to the actual temp. Ecobee Support told me that using that feature was keeping me from correcting the temperature, so had to disable it. The humidity was 12% too high, but I was able to use the 'Humidity Correction' to correct that. I used borrowed Certified Hygrometer-thermometers to check the temp/humidity and eliminated any external factors that might have been affecting the Ecobee without any effect.

Do you mind giving more detail about the issue you were having? I'm trying to figure out if I'm having the same issue as you. My issue is that I have my ecobee set to 66f but the temp in the house wont go pass 70 for some reason. Is this similar to your issue by any chance?

My ecobee Thermostat is installed on the main floor, and I got a sensor for the bedroom on the second floor. However, after everything is set up, it seems like the ecobee Thermostat doesn't only control the air conditioning on the bedroom. It detects that the bedroom on the second floor needs cooling, and then it turns on the air conditioning for both the first and second floors. If it's possible, do you know what should I to deal with it?

@MojoPup2 жыл бұрын
It only links to one phone concerning the Geofence unfortunately. Hopefully, Ecobee will fix this in the future so that if Both leave the Geofence, the T-stat goes into 'Away' mode. But if one of the phones is still home, it stays at the 'Home' setting. We use an Alexa Routine to make it go from Home to Away mode and vice versa.

Great video! Can you setup so that the remote temp sensors supersede the sensor on thermostat? For example, my thermostat is located near a bathroom so after a shower the steam tends to trigger a cool cycle. If I place a temp sensor in living room, I'd prefer if the thermostat gets triggered by that remote sensor vs sensor on main thermostat.
