Gorgeous work as always and the paint job is phenomenal. Every time i see a red and gold medieval armor it makes me want to make a middle ages iron man suit of armor!

That armour is just too awesome. To learn you did it in 10 days is just... godlike. When you do these videos, how long does it take, considering your weekly video release schedule? Also, how did you apply flexbond without leaving brush strokes? Was if from the mars black mix, or did you water it a bit down? How many coates of flexbond does your HD foam normally require?
@SKSProps
@SKSProps 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! On average most of the prop builds are 2-3 days that's figuring out the pattern, moving the camera around, and actually building it. Then an additional 2-3 to edit, add voice over and do the pics and thumbnails so it's usually a busy week. By using the mop brush it reduces brush stokes at least once you get used to using it. Luckily I've peen painting for quite a while. On most of my peices I just do a single layer of flexbond before I move on to other colors. Now with creature cast I usually add 2 layers because it is thinner.

@SKSProps
@SKSProps 3 жыл бұрын
The red armor was just done as a demo so no strapping. But the one I made for the Blick armor has elastic that was covered by black cloth to look authentic. And on my dragon age armor I made foam straps that velcroed into place

have you ever tried a mock up of the foam parts then paint them then glue them I know this sounds backward from what you just did but my paint skills suck and this is the way I build model cars and planes ???
@SKSProps
@SKSProps 2 жыл бұрын
with foam you have to heat seal and then seal with plasti dip, flexbond, mod podge, creature cast etc. before paint. The problem is your adhesive would most likely pull this sealer layer and pain layers off. gluing the foam directly is for the best possible bond

Sort of kind of unrelated, so, if I prime my foam armor with say flex seal or plastidip, could I spraypaint it with krylon primer and paint silver(for the first base layer) or should I stick to acrylics
@SKSProps
@SKSProps 3 жыл бұрын
You sure can! If you look at most of my build Especially the older ones. I almost always used Plasti dip and then applied Krylon primer (black or red) before adding a rustoleum metallic. Then I’d move on to handpainting the acrylics. Check out my Warhammer 40k chainsword Video 👍

I've been out of the game for awhile is flex bond the new go to for sealing?
@SKSProps
@SKSProps 3 жыл бұрын
Flexbond is just another alternative that can be beneficial to some makers. Especially for those that can't spray plasti dip because of the toxicity or weather. Another product I have been using a lot lately is creature cast which is a neoprene rubber and like Flexbond is also non toxic.

@@SpaceDad87 one trick is to make sure to dunk the can into warm water for about 5-10 min before use. Kinda of another reason I like flexbond and creature cast I feel like I have more control of the surface texture

How durable is Eva foam props and armor in reality? I want to make stuff for my larp but is all my effort just gonna get destroyed in the first combat mod?
@SKSProps
@SKSProps 3 жыл бұрын
It all depends, Most larp weapons are made out of 'foam' but there are lots of different shore hardnesses and densities to take into consideration. Also what really matters is what the armor or weapon is covered or sealed with. Like the creature cast neoprene rubber I uses from time to time is very durable and will definitely help keep the foam in good shape. You also need to check with the larping group because they usually have regulations for what type of foam you can use and if your weapons need to be covered
@OperativeSurprise
@OperativeSurprise 3 жыл бұрын
@@SKSProps Luckily I'm staff so I get some say in the rules :) lol but thank you! I will look into creature cast- I've seen some people make gorgeous armor sets, and shields but I've only ever made more roleplay focused small weapons like ritual daggers instead of combat stuff.

I'm personally not going to make anything from Star Wars for awhile. There is just to much heated debate and negativity currently surrounding both the franchise and fanbase. Luckily I have lots of other things on my list to make so I can focus on those by bringing positivity to my builds and channel.
