Is there a way of silenced notifications not coming through to notification centre? Even though they don’t ping they’re still there in a section that says they’ve been muted due to the focus mode however I still end up clicking them and would prefer them to not come through entirely until my focus status changes

I would love Focus filter for dual sim. When personal focus is on; only calls from personal is allowed. Work calls only come through when work focus is on. Also, text notifications and missed calls from work line doesn’t show in Notification Center or Lock Screen. I had my work line on my iPhone, but I couldn’t stand seeing missed calls and texts in my notifications when I with my family. I ended up getting a used Pixel for work calls/texts. That way I can fully focus on my family when I should. The only downside has been forgetting my work phone at home and the office is 40 miles away.

For example, I'd like to stop doomscrolling on instagram and linkedin after 10 at night and before 11 in the morning, so I would like to set a focus grouping that completely blocks those apps during those times. Downtime applies to all of your Screen Time-enabled devices, and you get a reminder five minutes before it starts.” Instead of blocking those few apps, make the downtime to only allow the necessary apps during those hours. Or you can set limits, limit how much time you spend in those apps. “You can set daily limits for app categories with App Limits. For example, you might want to see productivity apps while you're at work, but not social networking or games. Part of what is great about using Focus is deciding when it works for you and when you’d rather get all of your notifications front and center. We can help with that! Feeling like this is half deployed. A proper work mode would be good. I’d like to only see my work text conversations when I’m on the clock/slightly before after. When I’m off I’d like to reduce the risk of calling or texting a client by mistake by having them virtually off of my contact list. I don’t want to call, and I don’t want to be called by coworkers, clients, etc at 9pm on a Friday. Put it into a folder that I can check if I want to. In general the way i use my phone I’d like a work profile and a casual profile. Idk. Get it done plz. Lol

My modus operandi is to delete phone calls unless they have left a voicemail. That’s the way it was done when we had the old style answering machines. If they have something important to say, they will leave a message. If it’s spam, they get deleted in the mass deletion.

Focus is a wonderful feature and you’ve come to a great place for help! When Focus is enabled, you can customize if you want certain calls to come through or none at all by going in to Settings > Focus, tap the Focus you’d like to customize or create a new Focus, then tap People under Allow Notifications. I don’t consider it spying for Apple to monitor how infrequently this feature is used, and how only a minuscule percentage of users use it. Did you know previous generations had a focus feature in their lives. It was called “take the phone off the hook” AKA nobody bother me. It didn’t need complex customization and graduations of access. Of course, if the amazing iPhone could block telemarketers, then Focus would actually be useful.

I continue to struggle with the name for this app. Although I guess that some people use the word focus for activity related to this meaning, I rarely encounter this usage. My experience is that focus is primarily used to describe the action of making an optical image clear. The complexity of this app is astonishing. So complex that I am struggling to imagine using it in a helpful way. Certainly there are several times weekly when I don’t want to be interrupted by my phone. So I put it away or turn it off or turn on Airplane Mode. I’m concerned that after investigating hours configuring this app, I be tripped up by unintended results. It is far to challenging to think thru all the Use Cases. Like so much of Apple “improvements,” this looks like a solution in search of a problem.

Can a Focus mode be added to a HomeKit scene? It would be great if I could say goodnight and all my lights turned off and my phone switched to a Focus mode that allows calls from one family member (one of “those” calls expected anytime now) but stopped all the nuisance texts and other non urgent calls. I sleep at different times to most of society so I get woken a lot, but because we have a family member close to the end I need to be contactable. If not, I’ll set it up separately, but it would be great to have it in my goodnight scene. I can see many other ways it could be great within other HomeKit scenes too.
