How to Use Fog Lights - Car Fog Lights Explained

What are fog lights? Fog lights are specific lights on your vehicle that will help you see better in certain conditions, such as when driving in fog. They are generally positioned under the main headlights and are shaped like a bar.
In this video, we will go through how fog lights work, when to use fog lights (and when not to), as well as how to use your fog lights. Is it worth installing fog lights for your vehicle?
Generally, you should use fog lights in a variety of low visibility settings such as fog, heavy rain, and dust storms. In these situations, using high beam headlights is often not recommended as the light may be reflected back on to you.
There are both front fog lights and rear fog lights, but rear fog lights are uncommon in the US since there's no requirement to include them in new vehicles.

US needs to incorporate SAE J1319 into FMVSS-108:-) Would then give you the rear fog function on the national, new market vehicle fleet. Issue of what trailer plug system then arises, an easy fix. Rear fogs should be mandatory on new market vehicles, with front fog lights remaining optional. A la EU etc practice. They offer many seconds of advanced warning to rear-approaching traffic,- than a cars regular taillights are able, when driving under heavy fog, wildfire smoke conditions, daytime torrential rainfall, and even in dustorms. Switch OFF the rear fog light once visibility improves beyond 100m. One needn't use the function owing a slight mist.

I think it all depends i have my cars fog lamp directly with my HIGH BEAMS I Have normal low beams than medium with fog lighst than HIGH BEAM WITH FOG LIGHTS

Doesn’t matter! If they are on in sunny days or dark nights, they don’t give off any reflections to you or the driver in front of you. Wet road is when they are a distraction to drivers meeting you and not as much to the driver in front of you as you see in the video wet road. Day times, it’s better so that cars can see you better

Function does not exist, one does not drive a car or truck sideways, unless the vehicle is out of control, or is being driven by a professional race driver for public performance:-)) That said, in some countries, indeed all that are harmonized to the global UNECE regulations, trucks and their trailers have side trailer lamps and reflex repeaters - to help road users determine, especially under dust or fog like conditions, the trucks edge outline, as they either pass/overtake it, or are approaching say an intersection side on to the truck, can then see it's side, length etc owing the side lamps/reflectors!

You get drivers who turn on their fog lights when the visibility drops below 10 miles and not turn them off again, ever! And the IDIOT drivers that turn then on, but don't slow down.
