A video on how to use fusible interfacing with vinyl, cork and faux leathers.
Using fusible interfacing with vinyls and faux leather makes many people a unsure. So I made a little video showing how I do this.
A little side note I forgot to mention in the video: If you press all the pieces for a bag, make sure you switch around your pieces and press them on different sections on your pressing board, so the board doesn't get too hot and start melting your vinyl from the front.
I'm still very much a youtube beginner so any helpful hints or comments are much appreciated! And you like my videos, please like the video & subscribe to my channel - to make sure you don't miss out on any sewing tips, and it makes me so happy! Thank you for this, as with many things the key is don’t rush and be patient, probably where I was going wrong!

Aww, thank you! Yeah it's all about letting it take time when doing this. It takes much more heat and time than one would think to get it to penetrate the interfacing and melt the glue on the other side.

I like Decovil Light or Wovenfuse 2 for vinyl. They are available in the US.

Hi, would I need to use the paper if I'm using single sided interfacing? Regards
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 3 жыл бұрын
No, it's just to protect the iron from the glue =)

What you mention as baking paper, is that the same as parchment paper? And if so, I’m assuming you put the waxed part down?
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 4 жыл бұрын
It's the kind you place in the oven when you bake, that the baked goods doesn't stick too, and can take the high heat of the oven without going black.

That looks like parchment paper. That's what we'd call it in the US. It's heavier than waxed paper.

I'm so sorry for my slow reply, I for some reason don't get notified about comments anymore. You can absolutely use any kind of interfacing for this.

Hello! If you don't mind me asking, would it work even if the wrong side of the vinyl is lined with some sort of suede fabric and not the usual cotton/ polyester?
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'd recommend you try on a test piece, I've had it work most of the time, but the interfacing doesn't adhere as well unfortunately and you do risk it coming loose when you turn the bag.

Thank you for the video! Is the vinyl you're using in the video flannel/felt-backed or is it non-backed?
@PinkPonyDesign

Thank you! It's backed with a thin, woven like fabric.

@@PinkPonyDesign thank you so much for replying! Do yo know if non-backed vinyl can be fused as well, especially if a low heat setting on the iron is used?
