Took me half a box of ammo to figure this out the other day. The sight picture at 1:49 that is why I was digging holes in front of my target. Stupid me, was leveling the top of the front sight post with the top of the rear notch, just like you would with most any other handgun. Nope! Have to ignore the top of the front sight post not being flush with the rear notch and focus more on that "drop in the bucket".

C LeSaca that's because he is a great shooter...lets face it, not everyone can shoot like some of these guys do and never will. it takes a ton of practice, patience and you need to have someplace to shoot. today, everyone wants to be a pro the first time out. Its like anything else, playing a musical instrument, painting, building houses... natural talents only go so far, you still need structure and practice. pros still rehearse and practice, Sometimes daily!That said... I wish I had a great home range, companies sending me guns to test and make videos of and a seemingly un ending supply of Ammo...lol Hickok45 seems like a great guy who has a great life if you ask me, and yes, that good ol' boy can shoot! lol

Great video! People who think they'll shoot better by changing out components usually just need more range time. Although sights, I'm my opinion, are the only safe and acceptable modification to a stock Glock. Nothing is wrong with a tritium or fiber upgrade, but when people start messing with springs, firing pins, plungers, sprickets and flux capacitors, timing gets thrown around and usually off. Getting back on track, stock sights will hit the bull, but can you?
@sailboatbob39692 жыл бұрын
I watched a youtube clip with 2, 2A lawyers talking about IF you ever did shot/kill in self defense, their Lawyer will bring up all the Mods you did to your gun and why? Great video! The only thing I would recommend is changing the front site to something that allows you to see the front better. The drop in the bucket sight picture is great but focusing on the front site is sometimes hard to do fast and in different light situations. A good highly visible front green dot really brings the "drop" out and allows you to focus faster. The back sight is amazing. That's my two cents.

I love stock factory Glcok sights; I'm EXTREMELY accurate with them. But I like having night sights on my handguns. When I put my first set of night sights on my G23, after having factory sight on it for 11 years, I chose TruGlo TFO's. My aim with those was for shit. I purchased a G19 a year ago and decided to go with Meprolight Tru-Dot's, since they basically have the dimensions as Glock Factory sights (Mepro also makes the Glock factory night sights). With the Mepros I was right back on target. I promptly went and bought a set for my G23; no more accuracy issues.

I hear this term "Glock perfection" a lot, I find it kind of contradictory that I hear it most on videos showing people how to actually use their "perfect" Glock. Makes for a good point; your pistol may be perfect, but you aren't. So, no matter what you're carrying, you should PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Then, practice some more...
@hdrjunkie9 жыл бұрын
Sam Moon you cant shoot without "Learning to shoot." Some folks don't get it. "Im gonna buy the best, most popular, most expensive gun and Ill be a crack shot even though I never even saw a real gun in person before!" lol... how many times do you hear? "I don't understand, I went out and bought a (insert flavor of the day hand gun here...) and I STILL don't get groupings anywhere near you do with your rusty old 1911..." lol
@sammoon29069 жыл бұрын
hdrjunkie Unfortunately I don't hear that nearly as often as I know to be the case; I have a friend who fits your description in every way except the admittance part. He insists on revolvers for their accuracy, buys "only the best", which translates to high price like you said, and will only feed them match ammo. He refuses to take advice like "Squeeze the trigger" "Keep both eyes open" or "Use both hands, DAMMIT!" You know exactly what his groups look like. Yet, when asked why he only cares about accuracy but puts no effort into attaining it, he'll confidently insist the superiority of his purchase will win any fight "when it counts" Yeah, right...
@hdrjunkie9 жыл бұрын
Sam Moon lol yep.... Maybe he means if its a really popular, expensive gun, his attacker will take it in trade for his life. lol Seriously though, its not the gun, its the one using it. I also find that the heavier the gun, the better it is for a new shooter. I have a bud who ran out and got the g43 and swore he loved it...until he shot my 19 ... because of the size difference, he really liked the 19 because he shot better with it. So he went and bought a used Ruger 1911 and loves it more than the G43 or his Smith 357 revolver.(which I love...) I also have a Ruger LCP .380 for carry because its so small but I admit, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it because its so tiny and it wants to jump around so much. even squeezing the trig throws it off. Im hoping at least if I ever did need it just the sight and surprise of a gun suddenly pulled out of thin air and maybe a shot some place near the bad guy will be enough to scare him / her / them off....lol,lol,lol.. oh, I used to hear that same thing with cameras... Even from close friends and family... "Id take beautiful photos too if I had a nice camera and lenses!" Ummm, no you wouldn't. you'd take maybe clearer, sharper photos with more accurate colors but they'd still look like aunt Martha's vacation or holiday pics.... lol

is it correct to have your front sight slightly higher than your rear sight like how you have it pictured at 1:54? i ask because i always thought you had to have your front sight centered in the middle as well as have the front sight flush with your rear sight. i ask because when i aim with the front sight flush with the rear sight part of the front dot is covered. im not sure if im making any sense, but my question is is proper sight alignment what you have at 1:54 or with the front sight a little lower so its flush with the rear? thanks for any help.
@dhl67110 жыл бұрын
fyi im referring to a G27 i just acquired. still learning to shoot glock.
@DWAIvideos10 жыл бұрын
The front sight dot should be in the center of the bucket. The scaling I had at 1:54 is slightly off, so even though the dot is in the bucket the top still stuck out a little. If you're having trouble with hitting smaller targets keep in mind that Glock sights shoot 2-4" high at 25 yards, so you should be putting your sights slightly below the point you're trying to shoot at. Hope that helps.
@bsflynn2310 жыл бұрын
BATFE forgive me ignorance, but is there something special about Glocks that allow it to shoot high the further out from the target you go? Your comment "2-4" high at 25 yards, so you should be putting your sights slightly below the point you're trying to shoot at." seems to defy physics. The further out from the target you go, you should have bullet drop. What am I missing?
@DWAIvideos10 жыл бұрын
Brian Flynn Hi Brian, thanks for your question. Unfortunately Glocks don't have any special gravity defying mechanisms built in, though if it did that might explain why they're so popular. No, the real reason is that every gun shoots in a parabolic trajectory, or an arc. This is done to get more range out of a gun. If a gun shoots straight out from the barrel parallel to the ground, then the effective range of the gun will be capped by the velocity of the bullet. Thus every gun is made to shoot high first before it drops. It also happens that Glock sights are designed for what we call a "six o'clock" hold. This technique requires you to hold the sights just under the target instead of directly covering it, of course, this is sort of dependent on range, but at closer ranges before the apex of the arc, all your bullets will shoot above the sights. Hope this helps. I do plan on making a Gunning for Dummies episode on this topic some time in the future. If you have any more question about this, feel free to ask or send a message. Thanks.
@lakerboy168 жыл бұрын
To bad no one ever shows or explains sight picture, reason for it, or each guns our of the box sight hold during basic marksmanship classes. Only the sight alignment which doesn't take a degree to figure out. I thought starting out the only sight picture was "combat hold" like the beretta. Might explain why I was more accurate with it than Glocks.

I don't get this obsession of racking the slide one handed on your belt or whatever. How often to people in real world situations actually do this? Maybe i'm wrong but I run glocks with good ammo so I don't have misfires so the only time I rack the slide is when putting in a fresh mag
@cbb62789 жыл бұрын
andythecoderman If you want to get technical, how often are people in the real world going to use their guns? The racking on the belt, shoe, pocket, wall, desk whatever is the practice in the circumstance your opposite arm is injured. Which could mean being shot in a fire fight and then you have to reload, to even something as simple as getting hurt whilst doing some sort of work and when you go out a situation comes up and you have to use your gun. The odds are very, very slim; however, what does it hurt to practice. At least the skill would be there in case something did happen. Kind of the same as shooting from your back, or sitting, shooting one handed with your weak hand, etc.
