I always just used the default samsung text messaging app. I just upgraded to the s23 & the Google message app is apparently the new standard texting feature. I believe you have the option to switch between the two apps.

can you help? I switched to this messaging app and really like it except, I text often to 2 people or more. Each time one of them replies, it doesn't go into the group thread, it comes to me separately and when I respond it sends to me, too. There has to be a setting that I am missing.

I use this app, Super Backup and Restore for Android.... It makes a scheduled backup daily and will backup manually if you have something you want backed up right then. It would depend on when the message was deleted, but I have used this for years and never had a problem with it.
