Thanks for this series. I'm surprised you didn't talk about the "Play against the solution" feature, that's the biggest reason I'm gonna buy this solver, as they say practice makes perfect. Another choice would be the GTOwizard which also has this feature but I'm piss poor from a central EU country just starting all over again poker from microstakes after years. Btw after this series I'm pretty much unsure why would anyone choose PIOsolver versus GTO+. This is better in every way and much cheaper.

Thanks for the kind words. I recorded this in June 2020, which was before the "play against the solution" feature was added to GTO+. I agree though - it's a great feature. Pio has it as well though. But I agree, for a majority of people, I would recommend GTO+ over Pio.

These videos were incredibly helpful. As a low to mid stakes live player, I thought solvers were of little interest to me given the lack of gto play in the player pool. The idea of node locking showed me how wrong I was and how I can adapt the optimal strategy taking the player tendencies into account. I do have a question - can you do any node locking within the database mode and do you think it would make sense?
@SolverSchool3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pedro! Node locking in database mode is not something you really can do -- the main reason is that the cards are different from board to board. So it's impossible to just say "bet all Kx hands" for example, because the board cards would differ from board to board, and so would the relative strength of those Kx hands.

Hi @Michael Lukich I just found now your great contents on KZbin and I watched the whole series of GTO+ but I don't understand if I can use it to analyze spots for spins format because I'm a spins player. Do u know if it's available also for a 32bit machine? Thanks again to share your knowledges! ciao
@SolverSchool3 жыл бұрын
I'm not super familiar with the format of spins, but the prize tab can be used on the Sit and Go tab to simulate ICM. The general concept is that, unlike cash games, each individual chip is not worth the same amount in terms of dollars since winning all the chips (getting first in the tourney) does not give you all the money in the prize pool. GTO+ isn't the best tool out there to incorporate ICM, but you can do so for some simpler calcs.
@mattiacontini66883 жыл бұрын
@@SolverSchool Thanks for your answer! I gotcha so basically if I want to analyze a spot for spins format I've to choose the CG tab. I'll keep to follow you here and on your website. Have a good day :) ciao

Incredible series - thank you! Do you know how to set up Excel in a way that mirrors the database mode in GTO+? As in, drop down lists which allow you to toggle 'Larger sizing', 'Check' etc. and it will list that particular column in descending/ascending but also take the rest of the row with it. I know how to 'Sort' but obv this then removes those column values from their corresponding rows. I've tried to google but struggling...
@SolverSchool3 жыл бұрын
You could copy/paste it into Excel and use the Filter capability. You may have to do some data manipulation to get the workbook in a format that you can apply filters, but once you do, the native Filter functionality does all of this. Here’s a good link that’ll help you get started: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/filter-data-in-a-range-or-table-01832226-31b5-4568-8806-38c37dcc180e

Thanks. There is no difference. GTO+ just formats it that way when the shading gets dark enough to differentiate it from the background color.

Your videos are amazing!!! I was solving a full 163 solves and solved 30 but don't know how to save the solves for the future other than one at a time... Do I have to make a .gto file for each of the 163 flops?
@SolverSchool3 жыл бұрын
If you solve in database mode, it stores all 163 flops in the same .GTO file - it does get a little big in size though.
@lostmagicdude8883 жыл бұрын
@@SolverSchool oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh I am a silly-willy thank you so much idk how I didn't figure that out and your comment seriously I am very appreciative of. Yes the file size is many Gbs and takes a few seconds for GTO+ to open... I might try to break the 163 flops down into 4 groups of 41... If I want all 163 but want to split it into 4 groups but I already have the 163 solved would I probably have to restart the solving process and load the 163 flops then delete 123 so that there are 40 left and remember which ones I deleted kind of thing? rinse and repeat for the 4 different sets of 41?

really good and informative series, the only thing im curious about is using the "with 2 bets left get the $ in smoothly" imo im not sure we should have this switched on as it will over ride our input bet sizes, this will especialy effect overbets?
@SolverSchool4 жыл бұрын
That's a good observation and could definitely happen with certain SPR values. Some like the smoothing effect when there are 2 bets left. Others would rather overbet jam on 1 street instead of splitting over 2 streets. I tend to think this is a matter of preference and something to test. You could also keep this on and edit the tree to customize how you like.

Great video!The formula for EQR will be EV/Equity/100xpot size. Is that right?

@@lliliiliillliliiliili5180 not sure. I'm not the developer of GTO+ - just someone who knows how to use it. It's a minor inconvenience to open the same file twice to be honest. You just have to have 2 windows open but does what you're suggesting.

@SolverSchool Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! In your example, are you trying to resolve those 10 flops with the same new range? Or are you trying to node lock for those flops? One of the limitations of solvers is the inability to "mass node lock". Because each board is different, each set of ranges and how they interact with those unique boards differ as well. And as a result, it becomes challenging to scale these types of analyses.

I have a question in regards to database. What do I do if I (and I do) want to analyze certain flops with different tree decisions as well as different flops against different type of ranges and/or different tree decisions? Do i need to duplicate the flops and run each flop with different tree decisions and ranges ? ( I.E analyzing BtnvsBB, BTNvsSB and eveyr other position?) How do I do that? Thanks a lot. Also, why do I need to run it in an excel? what does it provide that I can't do simply by looking at GTO+? Google spreadsheet can do the job as well as Excel for that purpose?
@SolverSchool4 жыл бұрын
Yeah database mode is great to dig into a lot of different flops, but the configuration (ranges, bet options, etc.) has to be consistent for every board. So if you want to look at a different situation, you have to build another database. There are really cool things you can do with that type of analysis -- it's just labor and solve intensive. But I was just talking with a coaching client about that yesterday. We're building multiple databases with 1 variable changed in each (different ranges, different stack sizes) to quantify the effect. The one thing I'd recommend in these cases is using smaller subsets. I used 184-flops to look at spots in depth, but to examine the deltas when changing variables, I would probably use a subset of
@notasuperuser4 жыл бұрын
@@SolverSchool Thanks for the comment. So yeah, I wanna build a database that has different ranges(stack sizes is less important) and see how ranges fare for countless of hands. With that data, i'd like to make a comprehensive chart and study it nonstop. Are there any plans to do coaching with that coach and teach GTO even more extensively? have you tried working with FlopzillaPRO as well? they work in tandem.
@SolverSchool4 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what my workbooks are. I have 30+ different formations with different ranges and have solved them all over 184 flops to see how different ranges perform at equilibrium on various boards. It’s also a lot of what I base my own coaching (and personal study) on. Yep, I do use Flopzilla Pro. Per a suggestion, I’m going to make a 5th video in the future that demonstrates how to use the two together.

@@SolverSchool When you write a workbook for 100bb deep 6max I would like to know about it please. Also, how do you run 184 flops when the max subset I have is 164? will you make a workbook that includes turn and river equity and how it helps each player?

I do this work in PioSolver - I think it’s a little better for the database analysis work.
