How to Use Hot Keys

Thanks, Ross! I've been practicing with my hotkeys over the past week. I like the idea of having the Sell@Bid include a small cushion. I also like how you don't use the hot keys to buy shares in order to avoid shorting mixups (I just had one of those today that accidentally worked in my favor). Looking forward to applying this info.

I am wondering when you want to bail out of the trade and sell all of the shares, why would you sell it with limit order @ last bid - 10 cents? Isn't it better to sell it as Market Price which guarantees selling the shares completely as opposed to limit order that might have a chance of not getting filled?

Market orders could get filled at bad prices, while a limit orders ensures you won't get filled at a price worse then you expect. I've never had issues with getting filled on my limit order so I prefer to use it over a market order

Hey Ross thanks for the video I think you gave me enough to be able to figure this out but just have two questions. #1.) If I want to be a short biased trader with great fills would I be setting up shorting hot keys -3 cents below the bid? #2.) The best exit strategy for covering my shorts would be to do a LMT at 3 cents above the ask as a short seller?

Thanks for watching! I like to use -5 cent offsets. If I wanted to cover the short right away, I would buy with a +5 cent offset on the ask

If you sell half position and sell half again does that sell the rest or does that sell half of half which is a quarter? In this case, do you use sell full position after selling half?

Ask gives you best price but you have to wait for a buyer to buy your shares. Bid gets instant execution, but for slightly worse price.

When he is routing his orders he primarily uses direct routing to ARCA or NASDAQ. When he traded at Suretrader they didn’t allow direct routing, so he simply used their Smart Routing which is just called LIMIT. Many brokers have smart routing, at Lightspeed it’s called LSPT, for example. Typically these routes are pretty quick, but direct routing is always preferable.
