Is this product suitable for refixing a chip back onto my wife's front tooth which has a zirconium crown fitted ,even as a temporary measure ? Thanks.

It is difficult to evaluate a clinical situation without seeing it. In general the iBOND Universal system can also be used for reattachment restorations in combination with a (flowable) composite. Please refer to your dentist for the best possible treatment.

Why do we air dry the bonding agent ??

Air-drying of an adhesive is a crucial step for the efficacy and longevity of the bonding. Only by active air-drying, the solvent of an adhesive is evaporated. Additionally, the evaporating solvent carries along the water which is often incorporated in the adhesive and which is also present on the moist dentine surface. Water and solvent left in the adhesive would disturb a proper polymerisation of the adhesive causing loss of efficacy and degradation.

what is the difference between 7th and 8th gen bonding agents?

7th generation adhesives are self-etch adhesives whereas 8th generation adhesives, also known as universal adhesives, offer more advantages: Universal adhesives can be used in self-etch, selective enamel etch or etch&rinse mode according to the needs of the individual situation or personal preferences. When to use each?

The self-etch technique allows quick treatments and is suitable for pedriatic dentistry and for the treatment of compromised people with limited compliance. Also suitable where mainly dentine is the tooth substrate. Total etch should be used if enamel is the predominant tooth substance and/or if a higher bond strength for certain indications is needed (e.g. indirect restorations). Selective enamel etching combines the benefits from the 2 techniques mentioned above. Hope this helps.
