How to use iMovie on iPad

iMovie is a free editing app for iPad, iPhone, and Mac computers.
In this video, I’ll show you exactly how to use iMovie on iPad, step by step.
1 - download and update iMovie from the App Store to the latest version.
2 - Start a new project. You can choose between Magic Movie, Storyboard, or Movie. I recommend choosing a movie to get flexible editing controls.
3 - import your footage into a project.
You can use any footage you took with your iPad. But you can also sync up your iPad to iCloud and use footage your tool from your iPhone as well.
4 - Get to know the iMove interface
5 - Editing basics
Basic editing includes trimming footage, changing the order of clips, and so on.
6 - Working with audio
You'll need to change the audio levels or completely remove audio from a clip in some cases.
7 - Apply transitions
Transitions are a great way to improve the quality of your video project.
8 - Apply filters
Filters can give your video a new look and feel
9 - Add music
You can use the music library to add a music track to your project
10 - Exporting and sharing
You will need to export your video out of iMovie before sharing it.

This is /was the most informative and helpful how to video I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t know what you get out of this but it is well earned and deserved. Than you very much. I’m 60 yrs old and a tad behind on all this new tech stuff. I had opened iMovie once and was immediately intimidated and after punching a few buttons just deleted it assuming it was beyond me. Thanks for this tutorial, however how do you make the actual video fit on the screen? I use my iPhone to record then when use iMovie on my iPad it cuts the video where you can’t see the whole screen. Same thing happens when using photos to make a video. I can’t work out how to make it fit the whole thing.

I’m super frustrated with ipad pro imovie. Can’t do anything. Totally upgraded to ipad os 16 because I’d read on apple site that better options won’t work on imovie without it. But still… can’t crop or rotate still images I put into my movie. Why can’t we choose how large we want a still image? We have to crop it in pics and hope we guessed right? None of the tips I’ve found online for how to do things actually work. It’s bizarre. Can’t change the length of transitions - those instructions don’t work either. I’ve done all of this on the iMac. Basically just stick things together and play and hope it works?

QuickTime editing is soooooo much easier. The only thing it doesn’t have is a fade in/out feature. I tried the iMovie fade feature… it was audio. No. I want to fade in from black, and fade out to black at the end. Don’t see that in iMovie either.
