When uploading an image to Inkscape try edit trace bitmap>update>apply it should automatically trace nodes around your image so you don’t have to do it manually

It's refreshing to see a Dad and Daughter project, let's learn together. It's a great idea and very refreshing. in regards to the training, clear and concise. I was looking for embroidery files for a friend of mine as to how to make one, or export one that they could use when I came across this one. it answered all my questions. I'm not an Inkscape user (more Vcarve and Lightburn) for my cnc router and laser. you have to limit your software expertise so you can use one or two very well, and just export what is needed for your machine. lastly, I actually took an .svg file from my Vcarve software, and imported it to Inkscape, no work done to it, went straight to InkStich and made an .pes file. perfect. Thank you. have fun, embrace, as they are not young for long.

I had to have a tech assistant download ink space for me. I have some corrupt files somewhere on my computer, that’s why I called them and it wasn’t because of Inkscape but I forgot about the corrupt files 😆 I’m trying to make it work. We typically create our own designs in Inkscape or draw them using Procreate, then import them. Sometimes we will also utilize copyright free images/clipart. Thanks for watching!

when I try to export it I says "create a stitch file" Save your embroidery file > Save a Copy.... Choose from listed embroidery file formats and save. Multiple file formats can be saved by choosing the zip file format.

Thanks for watching! There was an update to Ink/Stitch which changed the way you need to export your file. You can export it as a .pes by going to: File - Save As. Thanks for the video but I have one problem. I tried it like 100 times. Everything is working until I try to "delete" the first satin stitch line. It only erases the colours but not the satin stitch. I am grateful about any help.

Thank you for this comment! We didn’t discuss this in our video, but when we created our fill layer, we had to remove the stroke by hitting “shift” then selected the “X” in the far left of the color field. The satin stitch is a function of the stroke, changing the color of the stroke line in your design will not remove the satin stitch it will produce. Really hope this helps!

Your videos are awesome! I've searched everyone's comments and questions and can't seem to see anyone with my issue. I purchased a PES and now own a Janome so need it in JEF. Hoping I can do it here. But when I first open the PES file, I get all the little scissor images. How do I eliminate them. I tried the "shift, click the little X to the left of the color palette at the bottom but my design disappears leaving just the scissors; which would be great if I could erase and step back but that won't work as you know 🤦‍♀. What to do . .

Thanks for watching! Once you have imported your .pes (file>import), to get rid of the scissors you can ungroup your design from them, you can do this by going to Object>Ungroup when you have your design selected. Additionally, to save your design select File>Save As, and select JEF.

Using the bezier tool, when I got back around to my first node, it turned my whole design black (solid) without negative space in the design. When you got back around to your first node, it just highlighted the object. What am I doing wrong?

Hi! You may have a fill color selected instead of a stroke on your design. In order to fix this, you can click the X on the left of the color palette and hold shift and press a color to have an outline. Thanks for watching, hope this helps!

By the sound of it, our guess would be Inkstitch is not properly installed on your computer. If you’re running a Mac with Catalina or Big Sur, be sure to run the commands in terminal that are listed out on the Inkstitch website. Hope this helps!

Hi there, on our laptop trackpad we pinch in and out to zoom. With a mouse you will need to press and hold ctrl and use your mouse wheel. You can also press shift + or shift -. Hope this helps!

Under the "stroke and style" when you did the outline, it is darkened out so that I can't click on it. What am I doing wrong? I also don't see my outline like this either, as it's clear maybe? Hello, I still get a error message when trying to hit param for Ink/Stitch it’s not greyed out and the location of Inkspace is the same as the one to paste onto terminal, that only ungreyed an area but still have the error. Help.

Hi! If you want to make the border around the bunny bigger, you can click the “Object” menu at the top of the Inkscape window, then select “Fill and Stroke”. A new tab should appear at the right where you can select “Stroke Style”, from there you can increase the width. Hope this helps!

You can organize by color and objects by stacking objects in the order you want them to stitch out (inkstitch>edit>restacking…) you can also program jump stitch cutting within your design, but that feature doesn’t seem to work with our machine (brother SE1900), those settings also found in the ink stitch >edit. Can I just upload an SVG file and skip some of the step or do I have to convert the png in to SVG within Inkscape for it to work?

Great info! Helped me understand this program, will def watch other videos ! I have a question tho, where the corners meet, there some gaps how can one avoid this ? Or does it not show up once you stitch out the design

Great question, we’ve learned since posting this video, that if you round your corners, it will stitch a much more consistent satin edge. Hope this helps!

Mine saves but wont show up on my machine. I’m saving using pes format and am not putting in any sub folders. It saved onto my machine when I tried doing it with 1 shape. But once I’ve made my whole design my machine wont read it after I’ve saved it

Hi, we’re thinking perhaps your Inkscape is either zoomed in or out too far on your hoop template. Just try to move around your Inkscape screen. Hope this can help you!

I got everything downloaded but I still am getting this error code: There are no objects in the entire document that Ink/Stitch knows how to work with. Tip: Run Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Troubleshoot > Troubleshoot Objects, do you know what to do?

Hello, thanks for watching! It looks like one or more of your objects you’re trying to embroider it’s not a recognized “path” ink stitch can follow. Try selecting all of your project and go to “Path”>”Object to path.” If this doesn’t work, follow the troubleshoot link your error above brings you, this will usually tell you exactly what is wrong with one or more of your objects. Hope this helps!

Is the needle going to the far top right after the preview normal? I think it might be messing with how large the embroidery is because my sewing machine should be able to work a 10cmx10cm area, and my design is about 9x4, but it says that the pattern is too large.

Is there a difference in user extensions and regular extensions folders? When I open mine it is full of contents unlike yours? Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Our user extensions folder only has ink stitch in it… If you see differences between ours and yours, keep in mind we were using an older version of ink stitch in this video, all of our other extension options are default. Hope this answers your question!

What do I do when I finish using the bezier line it auto fills what I traced out instead of just tracing out a line

Hi! After tracing out your line press X at the very left of your color palette to get rid of the fill. If you don’t have any outline, you can press shift and your choice of color. Hope this helps!

Very helpful video, however my options on the Params are only open to Autofill, autofill underlay, and Fill. Am I just missing an update or did I do something wrong in the path?

Depending on what kind of objects (paths) you selected in params, the options will change… (i.e. if there are no stroke paths selected, params will not bring up those options). Hope this helps!
