What can be confusing is that you have De click at the beginning of the processes in the stand alone (right frame) with mouth de click single & double band and Mouth De click/reduce smacks located at the bottom of the list. I remember an article on the correct order of processes in the RX8 days which said that spectral de-noise and voice de-noise should be applied last so that they would be more effective. To find the right sensitivity, I used the "output [process name] only" function, which eliminates the voice and keeps the defects you want to remove. When you listen to them, you can immediately see if the process is well adjusted or if it's going to erase bits of the voice. Finally, the real difficulty is that you can't apply all the processes, because after a while this will damage the recording, and it's not enough to cancel the last process applied. You have to start all over again, setting the sensitivity lower. When you do this on all the processes and sub-processes 1 by 1 in order to test their effectiveness, it takes a lot of time, but it's a good investment because in the end, you have your batch of processes that you can apply to all your recordings with the same microphone. That's why I prefer to use a single mic with specific EQs depending on the final sound I'm looking for. Izotope RX10 and now 11, Nectar 3 and Neutron 4 are the best from this company. I was disappointed by Ozone and VEA (I must not know how to use it). Between RX 10 and 11, in terms of stand-alone (full version) and individual processes, there's almost no change. However, I find the Repair Assistant function much better, as are all the batches with pre-sets offered in the options. If you have a decent mic, my opinion is that it is better to invest in this soft rather than a more expensive new mic.

Good eye. That’s not how I’d order the signal chain by any stretch. The plug-ins are arbitrarily placed here just to demonstrate each in turn, that’s all. 😊

This is an excellent demonstration for easily using the RX plugins you selected for this video. This video - like all of your videos - provides actionable guidance unavailable from any other VO or audio tech channel. Thanks a ton for sharing your expertise.

Great tips on a few of my favorite RX tools for voiceover. ‘Would love to also hear your comments and/or tips sometime on RX De-reverb and RX Breath Control. The former I usually have active in my rack presets, and the latter only on a more situational basis as I can’t seem to ever find a setting that’s “safe” to apply to an entire audio file.

Yeah! I don’t use either of those because in my experience they tend to sound overly processed (in the case of de-reverb) and can clip both speech and breaths (de-breath). In both instances you get vastly better results solving the issues at the source.

Another great consolidation of information Jay. Uber helpful. I'm going to take another run at the Voice DeNoiser, without Adaptive Mode; now that I see how it's supposed to work. Thanks for all your efforts, B

I'm looking for some suggestions on other De-Click plugins. I'm using mac oS Catalina with Ableton 10... and it looks like Izotope RX 11 is not compatible. I have the Waves De-Click plugin, but am looking for something more effective. Does anyone know of any other de-click plugins that could be compatible?

Hmmm...I'm not sure what other alternatives there are, but iZotope RX should be compatible with Ableton. Here's a link I found in case it's helpful: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=support.izotope.com/hc/en-us/articles/6658047057041-How-to-use-RX-with-Ableton-Live&ved=2ahUKEwiwk7bK1dSHAxVtD1kFHUeABqgQFnoECBsQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0YQxwFnifOSpAuS-rKYhtj

In your de-click vs mouth de-click audiobook comparison, you mention that the time was 10x faster but was the end result (as far as mouth noises go) the same?

Yes, the result is effectively the same.
