how to use joico COLOR REMOVER to remove direct dyes

today we'll be taking montana's hair from faded seafoam green to a beautiful silver. to do so, we'll be reviewing the #joico color eraser to REMOVE COLOR from her hair.

hey guys! we are back with montana. you may remember her from her TEAL HAIR video. with the teal fading, she’s ready to switch it up to a new color. montana has a cool seafoam green color currently. we will be taking this teal out and taking her to a SILVER and GRAY. veronica will do this by using the joico eraser to REMOVE the teal out before dying montana’s hair. she hasn’t used this before, so we’ll give you a short #productreview at the end.

Love this. In quarantine the joico was the only color remover i could find for to remove the teal. Hopefully it works today

ohhh how did it turn out? I'm not a fan of joico but only because its basically bleach. it'll work to remove color but it also lightens your natural hair.

Her hair turned out so pretty. I saw the ratios below on how you mixed the color. But did you use both the gray and silver on her hair? I thought it was just the gray, so I missed when the silver went on, and to which part you put it. Thanks

It was just mixed into the same bowl. The best thing you can do with direct dyes is to do a test strand. Sometimes colors don't look anything like what they look like on the bottle. One time I used a purple and it barely showed up. Cut a tiny piece of your clients hair (from the inside where no one will notice of course) and mix a few different ratios and see what you like the best!

hi gary! happy new year 😀 the girls have never tried that one. the Joico one is a form of bleach like the Paul Mitchell one. both of those 2 will lift natural hair. what are your thoughts on the Malibu one?

I love joico color eraser. It blasted through three times dyed blue black permanent dye in 30 minutes...one application on my hair. I used 30 developer though lmao. Didnt really damage my hair at all. Maybe a teeny tiny bit. Maybe. It lifted it enough I could easily go strawberry blonde.

I also looking for the best color remover. I use Elgon color remover it doesn’t lift natural color but stink a lot lol It doesn’t lift as much as joico but safe to use before bleaching. And head and shoulder shampoo + vitamin C. I just did it on my hair cos my hair went too pink and wanted to go back to blonde.

hi em! the best color remover we have used is by pravana. it only removes oxidated dyes/permanent hair color. you need to make sure the hair is stripped clean before putting the color back on, because once it touches the color it will oxidize back to its original state so it’s important to shampoo a lot and follow the instructions. here are a few of our older videos that have the color remover/bleach approach: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3rUdIiFpatmapY and kzbin.info/www/bejne/apq4qKtsh75kp6s

Joico Semi-Permanent Color Slate: 1/4 Sapphire blue + 1/4 black pearl + 2/4 titanium Silver: 1/8 Sapphire blue + 1/8 black pearl + 3/4 titanium That's what Veronica used but we ALWAYS recommend using a test strand first. The color would look different depending on how light you were able to get the hair in the first place.

do you think this would work with a faded arctic fox dye? i dyed my hair purple and it's faded out now and in some spots it's silver ish. i'm looking to take all that color out and go pastel pink but not sure if this hair color remover is the best route to go.

Can you please tel me what would happen if I put on a color remover on natural salt and pepper hair to remove a horrid greenish color?

It depends on the brand of the color remover. some color removers Affect natural color ((not just artificial color). if thats the case then all of the hair will lighten. I would be careful when playing with color removers. It sounds like you have a color correction. I would see a professional for sure

Have you ever tried clear dye like pravana 00? That actually lifts out semi-permanent color quite well and it won't lift natural pigment as fast as color eraser. I had a big mishap last year trying to remove a semi-permanent over my natural hair and Joico color eraser lifted my hair to a level 9 from level 3 and still didn't get out all of the semi-permanent. Then I used the 00 and it got rid of most of it so I could dye it back brown. I was so pissed lol

It would depend on what your existing pallet of color is but it would be anywhere from 400-700 ❤️. We charge a la carte so it would depend on how difficult the color stain is to remove. I had a client with a bunch of green and blue in her hair and I needed to strip it 3 times to get her back to platinum 🙆‍♀️
