quite honestly i rarely post replies on youtube videos, but this whole work around with OBS is absolutely amazing. I cant tell you how thankful I am for the fact that you scurried the internet for this stuff. I teach CAD-design and couldnt find a single way to make my old kinect cam work (other webcams are sold out here), except for this amazing workaround. Just follow this dudes tutorial and you should be good. Dont forget to restart your system by the way after getting virtual cam, that was my only hiccup. Haven't smashed a like and subscribe harder in my life. Thank you for this inventive, straightforward and easy to perform workaround to the obtuse and ineffective .ax file registration! Not only is this easy to manage, I can use all of the Kinect tools to use the infrared cameras, show off the skeleton tracking, and even add other display elements within OBS to show other windows, images, and objects. I had no idea OBS could output to a virtual webcam and it's an absolutely blessing. THANK YOU! PS. If you're reading this and it isn't working, make sure you installed the Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8 + Kinect Developers Toolkit 1.8 as shown in MikeTheTech's other video FIRST! The 2.0 drivers + developer toolkit WILL NOT WORK! Those are meant for the Xbox One Kinect, while 1.8 is for the 360 Kinect as shown here.

Hi sir, I want to thank you because finally, it's work for me, I have a 360 Kinect (model:1414), my OS is Win 10 build 1909, and also I think in plugin info said u have to use skype application, not from windows store, so if u download it manually from the website then try to use it, it completely works. thank you @MikeTheTech, it works but it may have a problem with IMO calls or something like that because I think it's not confirmed as a Windows camera and it's in the virtual camera but it's work for skype or something like that. thank you again for analyze it and solve it, it's really a legendary work.

hey mike, i download the obs virtua cam but i cant find it, i think the virtual is now integrated with obs studio... obs has the option of start virutal camera but this camera is not recognized by skype, google meet... only zoom and discord recognize the obs virtual camera

Try to restart your computer, that should clear up any running programs that are using your kinect. The reason this problem even happens is because the kinect only supports 1 concurrent program to use it.

The basic problem is that the video from the kinect goes through the usb connection, than through the window, than through obs, and this is a horribly inefficient way to do it, so your computer cant keep up with it.
