kinects are a great source of quality hardware that's just under everyone's radar. Full body tracking in VR, face rigging, decent live capture, it's a rock solid utility camera you can get for like 10 bucks.

Man usefull i guess so you can do so much with a kinect from surveying land to you name it people have used it as a pseudo 3d body mapping rig to create mocap games and such. Used to create all sorts of stuff, really it was a breakthrough when they made it. It was a shame they couldn't figure out a interactive way to make games enjoyable for it. just search online and you'll all the crazy stuff people have done with the connect saving themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment that they would have otherwise needed. Instead of a 40$ kinnect i also think that it played a part in the death of kinect as cooperate industry's put pressure on them as professionals hacked it to replace that expensive gear.

Oh my God same I actually bought my Kinect like one or two years ago it just didn't work with my Xbox 360s I kept it at first I tried to use it as a webcam it didn't work I put it in storage I found it today and now I'm setting it up to try it again

I was first just using it for discord streaming with my friends but now since school is starting and the first week is going to be zoom meetings only, I really needed to use one of my webcams. I have no other working webcam besides the kinect 360 and I am able to get the webcam to work just fine for zoom meetings. Thanks again, you're a life saver.

Sean Gilmore fire up the Color Basic-WPF and choose install then run. Crop the video window for Teams.

There's an OBS plugin called obs-kinect that directly accesses the Kinect cameras as a source. You should make a new video about that because it is much better and won't waste more processing power by trying to separately capture a window. It can also be used as a virtual green screen. That and the Virtual Camera feature in OBS, you can use it as a webcam in anything.

Do I need your attachment to power it on?

Tried my 360 kinect several times on win 7 and on several win 10 editions. Works in the sdk software but problems arises when trying to get it to work on other software. Like Skype won't recognize the kinect. Somebody should make decent drivers so we can use the kinect properly like with other webcams. Will try again this week and see if the new windows 10 update has changed anything this time around. I need a cam and a mic and I don't want to buy a webcam if the kinect works on win 10 in a proper way. As far as I know the kinect has gotten a firmware update at some point rendering it useless on pc back then except when used with the sdk software.

Sorry for taking so long to respond but yes unfortunately this method did not work with Skype, until now in obs you can turn your Kinect into a webcam for Skype and apps like that. Here's a link to my video on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKXNdKywf8-fg80

Brother i keep getting this error in device manager while connecting the Kinect, the error is as follows Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

You basically have to use the wires that came with the original connect. You plug the usb into the orange port which then continues to the pc

You forget the hardware connector to pc, you cannot just use your Xbox 360 Kinect directly to the pc without the adapter!

Not for the Xbox One, only for the Xbox 360, This is the 360 version.

You use window capture to select the window, the only softwares u need are for the kinect and a updated OBS

I think you can most likely upgrade it on the Microsoft website or get a 64 bit trial for windows 10
