This basing episode will show how adding a few cut leaves to your bases can have a dramatic effect! The Green Stuff World Leaf Cutters are amazing, and they create so many fun options! I am using Luke's APS and Woodland Scenics flock to finish these off.

I have hundreds of tutorials for miniature painting as part of my Patreon page at / jameswappel
I also do more comprehensive video tutorial series on painting units as part of my Patreon Army Painter pledge level. These are 5 episodes long, and begin with basing the unit. From there, I take you through the entire painting process, figure by figure! I have 5 different series on Lord of the Rings miniatures, including Dol Amroth, Rohan, Harad, Morghul Knights, Army of the Dead, Iron Hills Dwarves and my Easterlings. I also have Army Painting series for Warcry, Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40k and Game of Thrones!
I am now finished with my 26th series, which is why you gain access to over 900 hours of tutorial videos when you become a patron at that level... you can check it out here: / jameswappel
This is my Twitch channel, where you can also see how the conversion was done: / wappellious

Wow, this is great. I bought some leaf litter years ago from a company that went out of business. Now I don't have to worry about it ever again.

You must be living in my brain - I was just thinking the other day "I wonder if James has a video on how to use these" since mine finally came through the lost shipping zone of customs.

I love these punchers! I use coffee filters stained with different inks. The leaves look pretty convincing. I also don't care if I "overlap" the punched holes because it doesn't waste as much material and many leaves in nature are broken anyway :) Will check out the oil TMM videos; I have a number of pigments waiting to become paints. Hopefully they'll dry quicker than the fluor pigments (unlikely, but hey, I can hope!)

Thanks!! I have noticed that the metal mixes tend to dry sooner, since they don't separate as easily as the Fluoros...

@@jameswappel7119 That sounds promising! Is there any way that (fluor) oil paints won't dry?

I might have too use paper, as most of the tree we got here in Australia are eucalyptus trees. Their leaves literally sweat acid, so might degrade the paints and glues over time as they decay.

Wow! Are there any smaller bushes? Sometimes the smaller leaves like those can be easier to flatten, and easier to fit in the leaf cutter

Hi James, I am wandering how different Luke APS fast drying glue is different from regular PVA.
@jameswappel7119
@jameswappel7119 2 жыл бұрын
It is very different, as it retains adherence even when thinned to an extreme level. It is much more "sticky" in general

What do you usually use as a palette for the oil paints?
@jameswappel7119
@jameswappel7119 3 жыл бұрын
It is a piece of parchment paper glued to cardboard with a glue stick, so that it can be removed once I'm finished.

if you dont seal the leaves completely, will they not rot over time as they are organic?
@jameswappel7119
@jameswappel7119 3 жыл бұрын
The leaves are fine, as they are not being exposed to moisture, etc. Also, the glue acts as a bit of s sealer as well
