I'm planning to produce a longer tutorial, like from scratch of how to put it all together... that doesn't help you now, but someday! For now, I would focus on opening a couple channels, get inbound/outbound liquidity, and try to get some transactions flowing through. If nothing is happening after a couple days, lower your fees a little bit. Keep lowering every couple days until transactions start. Then you can look into things like rebalancing and/or adjusting fees for a more "natural" rebalance. Main thing is to just start and open a few channels. Zero Fee Routing is a good channel to have, then I'd get a few liquidity sinks like nicehash, bfx-lnd, walletofsatoshi, etc. You should be able to get some transactions moving with that type of setup.

Thanks for posting this! I am getting ready to open my first channels on my shiny new umbrel. is it a good idea to be a bit picky about actually opening channels with checking ranks, uptime, etc. 5M sat is a lot more girthy than I am willing to open as a noobie, but will try this to open some 1M sat channels, until I get a LOT more comfortable with running a node, and understanding how risky this is.

Thanks, yeah... I'm still trying to figure out the best peers to connect with. Some don't route ever, no matter how much I try. Maybe it's just a trial an error type of thing? I don't know, but still learning tons! Good luck on your lightning node quest!
