Hi Toby, thank you very much!! I've watched the video explaining uses of AS and later this one and I wonder which of this sentences can be more suitable/natural while comparing pictures in part 2 of the speaking: 'They look like as if/as though they are bored' or 'They look like they are bored'. Maybe they are quite similar, but I would like to know your opinion as examiner, anyhow. Cheers! :)

Sorry, I wanted to say the following in the first sentence. 'They look as if they are bored ' I added an extra like (!!)

Both are fine, Eva! ‘As if’ and ‘as though’ are perhaps more ‘formal’ but ‘like’ is ok too. it’s just important that you’re aware of both of them in case they come up in a Use of English exercise!

Hello there, i have a question, which would be more accurate: '' I feel like you re not understanding me'' or '' it seems like you are not uderstanding me''?
@SMASHEnglish Жыл бұрын
Depends on the intent. Using "feel" here adds attention to the emotional consequences of the listeners response to you. "Seems" is more neutral in tone. You might use "feel" if you're talking to a romantic partner, while a teacher might use "seems" when interacting with a naughty student.

Good question, Fernanda. "Didn't eat out with us" is the past, so we can assume that Kim not feeling like eating occurred in the past as well as opposed to generally "doesn't feel like eating" (I suppose it's a possibility)... If the question was "isn't going to eat out with us" (future) then the answer would be "doesn't feel like eating" as you suggested. If you have any more questions then ask!
