Thanks for that tip about the Scotch Brite sponge at the beginning! I haven't tried it YET, but my friend, Carmine tried it on his CC-01 Landfreeder. We both saw the advantage - the scuffing on the inside gives the paint something to "bite" into, making the paint far more durable! And he even used Spaz Stik color changing paint. Some people seem to have problems with it, he never has...... BUT, neither of us are anywhere near as good as you are! Holy CRAP! I'm blown away by your talent! Something worth mentioning, for those concerned about scuffing the inside of your body..... The paint FILLS IN ALL OF THE SCRATCHES!! I've even had to sand off some overspray, and the paint looked beautiful through the lexan! Murph
@hemistormrc7 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed, as hazed as it may look once cleaned, it all disappears when you start covering it with some color.
@jamurphy83867 жыл бұрын
Right, the first time was scary, but what many don't realize... painting the inside of Lexan is like having a very durable, permanent clear coat! Like I've said, I've even sanded some overspray on the inside.... and after laying down the colors, it was just as shiny as the rest! One thing I'm willing to try, after seeing how some of your bodies look, with some paint and dull coat on the OUTSIDE.... it looks like something I'd love the results of! Murph

Being new to airbrushing rc bodies, I actually learned a lot from your tutorial on liquid masking. On my first body for an E-Revo (Pro-LineF-250), I used Tamiya masking tape as a diagonal pinstripe for divider lines between two colors. Needless to say it bled a little. I will never use masking tape again. Also, another advantage of using liquid mask, is that it will stop the ever so dreaded over spray. So, I'm learning as I go, and your video really helped me out. Thanks!

Another excellent informative video!! The biggest thing for me that you talk about is time and PATIENCE. It's hard for me personally to do the elaborate paint schemes I want to do with my 2 little ones running around.( I love my little kiddies) I have already gotten them involved with some of the steps. I promise that when I buy the PENTA body for my 5ive-t in will take all my time and pull off an epic paint job!!!!

Expect to see a vid on a hard body RC soon! I have a RC4WD Trailfinder 2 on its way, and that will be the first time I paint a hard body. I'll show all of my stumbles along the way with that one, looking forward to learn some new things during that build. :)

Nice body the actual car that the body is based off of does really well in terms of getting points in the Continential Tire Challenge series. The action is great a lot of fender banging especially when weather is involved.
@hemistormrc11 жыл бұрын
I was so apprehensive about the stuff at first, but if you have the time to prep, go for liquid mask. It cuts way better than tape, and you end up with cleaner lines.

I have an extended Traxxas E-Maxx that uses the FG Ford F150 shell and I often get requests for size comparison, as I have deepdish 1" offset rims it looks 1/10 scale on screen so I use My Traxxas Slash in the shot as most RC enthusiasts know what a slash looks like or for real shock value I use the Mini E-Revo as it fits underneath that looks funny. Just done one this week take a look and have a giggle

Hey HemiStorm, I will do my first proper paint job soon and your videos have helped so much!!! I will be doing a 1/18th scale body (so quite small). Can you do a video on small bumpy bodies, or share any tips for small bodies please? Keep up the wicked work, i like seeing the videos on your massive bodies too, they look great with your big designs! From Bunce in Australia

Hi HemiStorm RC My english is not that bad, but I did not understand everything :) So... Do you apply the Hemistorm Logo from the inside and used it as a masking tape, or do you use it from the outside and just cut the Liquidmask in the shape of your logo? AND Is it possible to combine the liquid mask with a plotted Logo or something else from the inside? I mean is it possible to put the plotted mask to the inside of the body and then use liquid mask, to cover other areas and use it for a kind of design? And after that just peel of Liquid mask and then paint other areas with another color and after that peel the plotted tape (f.e. if the plotted are has to be white it is the last thing which is painted) Best regards
@hemistormrc10 жыл бұрын
***** Hi there, I applied the logo from the outside and free handed cut the liquid mask afterwards, sticking to the lines as a referance. I have no experience with plotters, but can imagine it being possible to combine plotted masks and liquid mask. I have never used a plotter in my life! ;)

Would it be ok to use a thin coat or 2 on the outside of the shell as well or would that dry to thick to see through? I have a homemade shell with no clear layer to draw the design on so don't want to mark up the outside shell. I could use a washable marker but afraid I will rub the design off while handling the shell during the process. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

OK so I paint with faskolor and I like it pretty good but it takes a bit to dry in between layers so I use a heat gun but on the liquid mask I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be a good idea. has anyone tried a heat gun on low to dry paint using liquid mask. I'm actually watching paint dry at the moment so I'm desperate
@hemistormrc9 жыл бұрын
Buddy Warren You can use a heat gun, but my suggestion would be to paint even thinner than you already do. Using heat guns can change the lexan, and make the shell more brittle.
