Thanks for the suggestion, Mohammad. I've never encountered that. Is it possible that you don't sync Mendeley right after use on one device so when you sync it on the next device and later sync the earlier one, it messes it up?

@JamesAzam3 жыл бұрын
Hi, wikipedia usually provides the citation on the left hand side under "tools" -> "Cite this page".You can download the bibtex file for example and import it into Mendeley. You can also just grab the article using the Mendeley web importer (very useful and efficient). You can follow the same procedure for blogs and google articles. Download the Mendeley web importer and see the magic it can perform with just a single click.

Well explained. Sir, if a reference was done manually without using Mendeley or other referencing software, how do one convert the references using Mendeley?

Hi Peter, I honestly doubt there's an automated way to do it. You'll just have to painfully redo it with Mendeley but you'll be glad you did. Manual citation is really not the best and can lead to a lot of trouble.

@JamesAzam3 жыл бұрын
The new version of Mendeley got those cool features removed. I suspect they want to monetize it in the future. You can find one of the archived old versions online and install it but never update it when the message pops up. You can always export a pdf with the notes/annotations. You just right click on the pdf and select "export pdf with annotations". A window will pop up that allows you to check/uncheck what you want to export. When you open the pdf, it will have numbered annotations and the notes will be at the end of the orginal pdf.

Hi James, very informative and valuable tips for Mendeley. I have searched everywhere and need help, I use Mendeley for writing assignments and know how to add a citation and also create a bibliography at the end. The question is: How do you link the IN-TEXT citation to the actual full reference in the bibliography so that the person marking the paper can click on the in-text citation and it goes to the correct reference page. There is nothing on how to do this? Hope you can assist me?
@JamesAzam3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lara, unfortunately, I don't think Mendeley creates a hyperlink between the in-text citation and the listed one in the reference list. There are workarounds but very tedious. I know EndNote and the others automatically do that, though.

Good video. Can Mendeley be used with like say online latex?
@JamesAzam4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Edem. Actually, it can. You can pull your online Mendeley account into overleaf into a mendeley.bib file for referencing. Check here: www.overleaf.com/blog/mendeley-import-2016-07-18. If you're typing in LaTeX locally, you have to create a local BibTeX file on your desktop and link it to Mendeley, after which you can enable Mendeley BibTeX syncing to automatically update that local BibTeX file. You can then upload it to your online LaTeX platform like overleaf. The following link summarises what to do in this case: libguides.rhul.ac.uk/c.php?g=380520&p=4650349.
