How to use My Shop Made Box Joint Jig

So I made a Box Joint Jig. If it works, that's great. Let's see if it does!!
I spent a lot of time designing this jig. Then a lot of time making it. I encountered several 'setbacks' during the build and I tried to deal with them 'on the fly'.
So now it's time to see if this jig was worth all the effort!!
In this video I make a box with box joints I cut with this jig. I made a few boxes with the jig already to make sure I could, in fact, make them with the jig. So now I want to show you how to set it up and use it.

I think the next move in the shop is to fill these boxes with my stuff and then start insulating and finishing the front wall! More of the same I'm afraid! I`d say your jig worked very well for you. You give a lot of attention to being prepared and that makes a big difference in the end, Mike. Them boxes are a lot of work but they look good and are well made.....CHEERS

I was wondering how they would fit together , all being cut the same, then you cut the sides and staggered the slot and it all came crystal clear. The jig works very well. The feet that slide in the table saw grooves could be tightened up by applying shim stock to the sides of the runners (if ever needed). It comes in varying thicknesses and could be glued to the sides of the runners if they ever got sloppy and need to be tightened up. There was a time when just about everything was shipped in wooden boxes just like these. I have some old dynamite boxes and butter boxes too. Sorry Mike, No dynamite left! Great project! How's she goin'? Thanks Craig!! The jig was a tricky build, but now that I have it, I'm glad I spent the time on it. The problem with the runners are they aren't parallel. The tape on the back corner seemed to help but the shim stick would be a good idea too. It wouldn't wear out or peel off!! Box joints are some strong. I'm going to try and make a box from 1/4" plywood and see how that works!! LOL BTW the baloneys are as scarce as hen's teeth around here and the rabbits have all been eaten by the coyotes so the only critters left are the squirrels and since I redid the shop, well I guess they don't like it much as they haven't been around much either!! It's going to be a lonely Christmas. LOL Merry Christmas and get the mistletoe out and go see what Susan is up too!! LOL Take 'er easy!!
