NordPass for beginners is probably the easiest password manager to use, but being easy to use isn't the be-all and end-all situation… You still need to know whether it's truly the right platform for YOU, so I'm making this NordPass tutorial. I'll go through how to use NordPass daily, what features I love the most, and any cons you should know about this best password manager for everyday use…
📢 NordPass - Pricing and Plans 📢
If we go to the NordPass password manager website, we can see three plans available. Family, Premium, and Free. Let's look at paid plans first. The Premium plan currently goes for less than $1.50 a month, which would be about $40 for two years of a premium password manager. Now, do note that the longer period you buy, the cheaper it gets. If you want to pay monthly, the price will jump to around $5 a month. So I highly recommend opt-in in for as long as you can.
Now the pro version of NordPass comes with a Data Breach scanner, emergency access, safe item sharing, and a weak or reused passwords checker. So while NordPass is great for password storing, the premium version turns it into a fully flagged security center where you can audit all your logins and information. To quickly cover the Family plan, it has everything that the premium plan does, and security-wise, you don't get any extra features. Instead, you get up to 6 premium accounts to cover all your family's devices, and the price goes up by around $1 a month.
Now, there is a NordPass free plan, and it might be the best free password manager on the market. Sure it only comes with the basic features, like storing and generating passwords and secure notes, but you can store an unlimited number of these passwords. So it's actually a free password manager that you can use in daily life… Would I recommend the free plan? Well, if NordPass premium plans weren't just a few bucks a month, I would maybe consider it, but for the price that you have to pay, the premium plans just give you sooo many life-improving features as well as letting you sync with all your devices… Free plan for testing out, the premium for day-to-day work, that's what I always say…

Okay, enough about money, NordPass password manager tutorial next step is INSTALLATION. No matter what version of NordPass you'll choose, the next step is actually to download and use the app. One thing that I like about NordPass, in general, it's very easy to install, no matter whether you're running a MAC or a Windows pc. Let's quickly go through it - once you buy your plan or opt-in for the free plan/trial, you'll get to download a file. Open that downloaded file, and the installation process should start immediately. Follow the instructions on the screen, and after a few minutes, your installation should be done. Next, go to your apps folder or desktop and launch the NordPass app, and log in or create a new Nord account. After this, you should see this NordPass interface right before your eyes. See, that was pretty easy. Honestly, I really like how uncomplicated this process is. There's no space left for beginners to get lost or confused…

Its gone way past its limits a long time ago IMO but I'm just mentally challenged when it comes to computers and could use all the help I could get. And yes I "LITERALLY" typed in "How to use Nordpass" amd this popped up...I mean wth🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I've dealt with some difficult frustrating things but these new phones and tech take the cake EASY! I hate it but if I could figure it out I'd probably love it. Not that its hard to use I'm just not tech savvy but tech mentally challenged! Everytime I figure one thing out they come out with a newer more complicated version and auto add it to my phone!🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😖😖😖 I feel like my brains going to explode if I dont figure this out soon or get some help as any and all is MUCH APPRECIATED!!!🙏🙏👍

Excellent review, as always. But Vaughn, you should have mentioned what was not good about it. For example, it could do a better job importing passwords with TOTPs and notes and attached files from password managers such as Bitwarden, or How lagging it can be on some computers.

I'm happy to report that Nordpass has finally added custom fields. They're slowly getting better.

Now, 7 months later, the browser extension has improved even more. The new extension doesn't require using the desktop application. It has more fully integrated the custom fields into the auto-fill interface, allowing you to fill special information right from the entry field on the website. Copy/paste is no longer necessary. This is a big step up. The only thing left is the ability to fill in TOTP codes, like Bitwarden, 1Password, Synology C2 Password, and Zoho Vault do.

Sadly, Nordpass has ended their web interface. You will need to use either the application or the browser extension. Both work fine, but I prefer to edit my entries from the web.

Many password managers conduct password iterations (rehashes). For example, LastPass does 100,100 iterations of the master password in order to make it more secure from being reverse engineered. Does NordPass do the same thing to master passwords? If not, is password iteration even necessary with XChaCha20 encryption?
