The tape feature is used for studying. You cover parts of your notes you want to memorize, then touch the tape and it disappears for a second so you can check if you got it right. It's basically for memorization type notes. The ruler is also useful for things where you're drawing and need things to be proportional. It's not just for straight lines. So if you're sketching out a blueprint of something.

Found out that under Tools you can add duplicate tools. So if you like two types of Pen settings but you don't want to keep changing the settings back and forth, you can just set up two pens. Thanks for a good tutorial! Lots of features I didn't know existed (like the second half of the toolbar lol)

It might require you to upgrade to pro. I went ahead and did that on mine, so I’m not sure if it’s a regular or pro feature. But basically, use the lasso tool to select your text, tap the center, and then tap “convert.”

Notability has replaced manual notes for me. I am taking college courses and use the import feature a lot since my textbooks are online. The only thing I wish is that I could still click on hyperlinks, but I understand that is beyond Notability's controls.

My apologies for not showing this but yes you can convert handwritten material using the lasso and converting into handwritten text, my handwriting is quite messy so it isn’t always accurate for me so i tend not to use it 😅

How can I add an empty space in the middle of a note? For example, I was writing a synopsis, and then I realized that I needed to add something else to the question, after which the following questions are already coming. I can only highlight everything that comes after the place where I want to add and move below. Maybe there are simpler ways to add records? In Microsoft Word, you can just put the cursor anywhere and add text, everything else will just move down automatically. Thank you in advance for your reply!

If you are using the text function, you can do exactly as you said in MS word however if you are using the pen/ pencil it’s less straightforward. You can either lasso everything down or if you go on page manager and click the 3 dots on the page you want a new one under you can insert a fresh page underneath the current one to add more space below.

In the past I was able to import an image right from Google as I was taking notes. For example, while writing my Art History notes, I like to have the art image in the note. I remember there was a + sign in the upper right hand corner of the note. In the new version, I do not see where I am able to do that. Is this feature still available?

Notability has taken out a lot of features in their new update which is very frustrating I can suggest saving the image on google as a photo and then importing it as a photo on your notability document

Use the lasso to capture what you want typed and then touch the dashed lasso outline and a set of options will pop up like save etc. choose convert and then text and bingo you’re done.

You are not alone that’s super frustrating and annoying Notability haven’t fixed that yet. The only option that I believe is possible is after pasting the image saving the document as a PDF and then reimporting the document and deleting that image, now it will not move if you write over it or lasso anything else

If you manage to just lasso over the tape you can move it, delete it, copy it and duplicate it but won’t be able to change colour unfortunately 😅

Hmmmm that seems like it could be a glitch in Notability, you could try deleting and re-downloading the app but ensure all your work is backed up

Bought the Pro version and was quite disappointed. It may be a good ap but the the help like was not helpful, and almost none of the KZbin videos reflected changes to the layout so I spent quite a bit of time finding the buttons I needed. The the mini keyboard would not expand until I had tried to many "trick" to know which was effective.

When importing a document, in the past there was an option to change your document from a pdf document to a word document so you were able to say edit/update a resume you have saved on your MacBook however now no matter what I try I am unable to edit the pdf document besides like writing next to the words already on the page.
