"Luin kirjan" is perfect kirjakieli. In speech most would say "Mä luin kirjan", in Helsinki at least.

It is not a genitive but an accusative that just resembles genitive. It becomes very confusing if you think it as a genitive. Accusative resembles genitive (singular) or nominative (plural)

Tämä is this and nämä is these (used for plural). Similarly, tuo is that and Nuo is those. I hope this helps ☺️
