Thanks a million, Alex. I've spent days researching OBS videos that would help with my online teaching. I watched so many videos based on the number of views (some of them millions of views). I was left confused. I almost skipped this video because of low views (13K). However, something told me to try the video. It solved all my concerns. This video deserves more views. You just got a new subscriber.

Great overview of OBS for teaching purposes. I spent a lot of time experimenting on my own and you explained it very clearly. Thanks!

Alex ... I'm coming to the tail-end of the video and can already visualize how OBS is going to work for me. Great job on sharing your experience. I am in the process of creating training videos, and this session is going to change "night" to "daylight". Just today, I was having a Zoom discussion and sharing screens was a nightmare. Close sharing ...share another window .... oops! I need to reference another window. Well, all of the issues have been resolved for my Zoom sessions going forward. Ever indebted to you and the biggest "Namaste". Cheers.

Thanks for this important video. It deserves a lot more views. I also teach this way, through Zoom, but I am using a homemade lightboard (for handwritten lecture notes, and then I share screen on Zoom to show ppt slides for images). OBS handles the pre-class screens and countdown timer, and then the lightboard feed.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been using Webex and Zoom and I don't really like them, I get so bored teaching and engaging when I have meetings, workshops etc lol. Will spend some time learning more about OBS and experiment over the next couple of months since I'm probably gonna be in lockdown until the end of the year 😅

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. Would you mind sharing what green screen you have. I am overwhelmed with how many different ones are on Amazon.
@MathPartner3 жыл бұрын
Sure - I have the Elgato pop-up green screen. You can get cheaper alternatives from unknown brands but with a product like this that I rely on daily, I feel more comfortable knowing that is made by a company who is willing to put their name on it and who is know for making good-quality products. The mechanism is smooth and sturdy and the fabric is good thickness with low gloss/reflectivity to give an even green colour, even with poor-quality lighting. I also like the fact that it is quick and easy to set-up and that it can be stowed away (relatively) discretely when I'm not teaching!

Hi. Awesome video, thanks! I am wondering, is there a way for me to get a display capture scene of a screencast from my tablet, as I write on my tablet? During a lesson i want to have a scene where it is my self, my calculator, and a display of my tablet being drawn on Thanks again 👍🏼
@MathPartner2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what tablet you have. Firstly, you can try to set up screen mirroring/connect to a wireless display so that your tablet will effectively work as a second display for your computer. You can then use "display capture" in OBS and capture from this. I find this to be a very messy and fairly unreliable way of doing things, but I know that other people have some levels of success. Otherwise, see what kind of outputs your tablet has. If your tablet has an HDMI-type output then in my opinion (and the way that I do it) it is worthwhile to invest in a HDMI to USB converter - something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0895N9KM5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are various adapters that can help make this work. For example, I can connect my phone which has a USB-C output and convert it to HDMI using this to convert it to HDMI: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082PVXSRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The idea is that you connect a HDMI cable to the output of your device then plug it through this device to a USB port and it will work in the same way as a webcam which OBS will read as a "video capture device". This method should work with anything that has a HDMI output.

Great. How do I scroll an open pdf file on my desktop as I am teaching via OBS.
@yannuarlesmana98733 жыл бұрын
I believe that it's okay for you to minimize the obs page after you set them up, and open your pdf explorer. Of course buying second monitor and assign one of them as obs control display and the other as captured display will solve your problem in way better way.
@MathPartner3 жыл бұрын
Yes as long as OBS is open in the background then you can minimise and scroll your pdf document live with the desktop/window capture source. It is also possible to set up hotkeys to change scenes and activate sources in OBS so that you do not to keep maximising and minimising OBS.

can i have a red screen and remove it using the chroma key?
@MathPartner3 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried it, but yes it is theoretically possible to remove any colour in the same way that I showed removing the background from the calculator.

You should be able to activate virtual camera and then select OBS virtual camera from the list of cameras.
