My teacher taught us to use copper metal sheets to sandwich in the metal and texture material or plate. I’m not sure why when you can easily a Manila folder like this? Maybe because we were using things like fabric but I’m not sure. Advice is welcome!

Queen Fussy exactly! The steel plate is a ton more resilient to that kind of pressure and be used MANY times over - when you’re using more pliable substances (fabric for example, or leaves and feathers) you really want something much firmer to press it together, but pliable enough for the image to transfer. I actually quit sandwiching the plates like this when Gwen Youngblood introduced me to using craft foam - it’s a TOTAL game changer and I have another video on here showing what I do 🥰

Hi Roberta - I bought one of these from you and am excited to see how the first roll comes out! One question - do you have to roll a full piece of metal the same size as the plate or can you roll smaller pieces of metal through with the plate? Also, what is the best gauge of metal for this? Thanks!
