I'm trying to create a new spec with copper tube, using an existing cpak copper catalog, but I can't change the existing dimensions or add new ones...! Can anyone help and tell me why?

The issue may be due to the copper catalog being set to read-only or locked, which prevents changes. Try copying the catalog and saving it under a new name to allow modifications. Ensure you're using the Spec Editor and have the necessary permissions. If the existing catalog still doesn't allow changes, consider creating a custom catalog based on the original. Hello. I'm new to Plant 3D and was wondering where do I go in the spec editor to add new specs for sanitary tubing? I'm thinking it would be best to create it's own folder, but wasn't sure the best place to put this new folder to show up in Plant 3D to use. Thanks. ~ Laurie

Create a new spec by going to File > New > Create Spec in the Spec Editor. If you have a similar spec you can create one based on this existing one, otherwise you can start from scratch. Plant 3D offers various default content however we wouldn't be able to comment on if the default content contains sanitary specs.

@@PentagonSolutions Thanks for the information. Now that I have a new spec created with components, is there a way to separate a category into multiple ones of the same type? What I have so far is that I created different type of instruments: Pressure gauges, flow meters, level switches, etc. But when I add them to the spec, they all are under the "instrument" category I put them under when creating them. How can I separate them out where the pressure gauges are in one section, the flow meters in another section, etc. Right now, since they are all under the one category, so when I click on one of them in the palette that says pressure gauge, it lists everything in there and not just pressure gauge. It's probably because I resolved the part list priority for the sizes. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. ~ Laurie

Hey. I'm on a project with someone else and we need to work simultaneously on the catalog, which is on the server. But when my colleagues have catalog x open, I can't open this catalog either. Is there a way to do this?

This is normal behaviour with Plant 3D Spec & Catalog editor. When a catalog is open and being edited by one user, the file is locked out to that user and only available in a read-only context for other users. This eliminates file corruption as two users cannot modify the same part at the same time.

Hello. How can I add 100 inch size in port of equipment and even for the pipes? how can I declare new sizes? thank you in advance.

@PentagonSolutions Жыл бұрын
If creating a new pipe or instrument part from scratch, the size range can be defined initially at set up within the ‘Create New Component’ dialog box. The pre-defined sizes can go up to 160”. If amending an existing pipe or instrument part, go to the Catalog Editor and select the relevant part, you will be able to change the sizes of all ports using the ‘Sizes’ tab found here. Alternatively, you can attend one of our Plant 3D training courses or contact the team directly at info@pentagonsolutions.com.
