We want consistently good mixes. To get truly consistent mixes, we need to control the elements of the mix.
One thing that can change is the mixer, but we can at least keep our effects and processing the same by using plugins on our laptop. Using external plugins can seem intimidating, but I’ll take you step by step through what equipment you need and how to set it up, how to send to effects like reverb plugins, and how to use insert effects like compression, autotune, or de-essers.

There's always going to be some latency when running plug ins. In this example the reverb doesn't add any additional latency. But I'll totally make a video about what plug ins I use.

How's your experience with using the USB Output of an M32 into your computer directly? Would you unsend the original channels to main and reroute the processed signals to new channels to main in order to avoid phase issues?

You're very welcome. I've never really used an si expression I'm afraid. The work flow would be similar either way. Send to a bus, route bus to an out, connect out to the card, connect out of the card to an input. If I come across an si expressioin I'll make a video.

Are standard DAWs not optimized to do this sort of thing? I have FL Studio... Do you need a software like LiveProfessor for this to work well?

I've seen people do it in Ableton but generally speaking dedicated software is more stable with lower latency. I can't say I've tested the latency etc. But if I'm running an insert on my main vocal I'd rather minimise the risk of it crashing and taking out the vocal

Thanks haha. Depending on what mixer you're using you can use a usb card or a dante card mounted in the mixer, then connect it straight to your laptop. dante is great for this kinda stuff.
