The most important thing; END your session AFTER your stamps are printed or your label is created. Why? If the session stays open the Kiosk allows the next visitor to print more stamps using the credit card auth YOU did before (up to a total of 50 Dollars) That's a really important bug in the user interface of that machines...

And that is why you must follow the directions and answer the screen to make sure you’re logged out and card retrieved

yes - I know - but as USPS advertises in a video I use these in a rush. - For example, subway in 4 minutes and having 6 letters to stamp and post. I can't do that with the USPS staff like "here letters, here debit card via NFC, stamp them, post them - I'm gone..." for that use scenario having to log off is not ideal... even for the "ahh finally, stamps for my letters I already wanted to send yesterday" people...

With the utube era, the post office should have put videos and a menu for all service from a basic service 1st class to certified mail and receipt and others. One time a guy customer refused to help me on the machine. He said "the PostOffice is supposed to teach you", I asked the guy, after waiting for the special door PostOffice to help me, and no help, I gave up and asked the customer. The customer chose to be rude to me because of the sloppy PostOffice.

Yeah they are talking about thin flimsy envelopes that would get bent and crushed from all the heavy packages inside the bin.

For something like that I prefer to see a teller because I don't want to make any mistakes since it's going to be quite expensive and they can offer better options which I may not know about.

The system has been updated, but not for the better. I couldn't figure out how to send a certified letter, got frustrated, and will return when there is a real person to help. The new menu system is unintuitive and I can't find instructions, the menu navigation, etc. The Post Office should be producing this stuff and post it on their site. Jay shouldn't have to make these videos - the Post Office should. But thanks Jay.

Yes you can put anything in there as long as it is not prohibited or restricted items. As long as it fits inside the padded envelope and is under 70lbs it's good to go. They have a saying that goes "If it fits it ships."

Nice, thorough demonstration. However, your package was more than 3/4 inch thick and you selected less than the measurement. So, did you have postage due? I don't know how the post office handles such, save for the recipient receiving a notice from the destined post office for the postage due. Nevertheless, thank you for the demonstration via this video. Btw, using your credit card is there a fee for the use of the kiosk? I don't like paying fees for anything and it is most unfortunate that the machine doesn't accept cash, for that's how I pay for postage. Thank you......

Because this is flat rate priority mail, there is no need for measurement as long as it fits inside the container. There is no weight limit and always cheaper than weighed packages. Ask the teller next time which is the better deal.

USPS boxes have to be shipped with their own boxes. Similary, UPS, FEDEX and others have to be shipped from their own facilities. It would be cool if they were universal but each is it's own private entity.

How about certified mail, 1st class, and with certified mail receipt. How to do it. Sometimes I have to take vacation just to go to the postoffice. They close at 5:00. And I work until 5:00 then to drive home.

What happens if you don’t put your return address. The machine only generated the recipient address but not mine and I didn’t think about it until I got home. 😭

The return address is not required on postal mail. However, lack of a return address prevents the postal service from being able to return the item if it proves undeliverable; such as from damage, postage due, or invalid destination. Such mail may otherwise become dead letter mail.

As long as it fits and the right amount of postage is applied it can go there. That drop off box isn't just for flat rate items. Since shampoo is flammable and a liquid I'm not sure because they always start by asking if there is anything flammable and a liquid so it's best you talk to a post office teller. I think it's for the safety of the airplane and the pilot.

FOUR DAYS and counting tracking still says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) in (Town and State on Date) to expect your item for mailing." I dropped it off and it claims it is STILL WAITING FOR THE ITEM! Now I have to check every hour for status. NEVER AGAIN! I WILL WAIT IN LINE THAN SUFFER LIKE THIS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Why not have a kiosk like a bank deposit box that closes before scanning and weights the item and prints ITEM ACCEPTED?

The KIOSK SCAN IS USELESS! it is NOT PROOF THAT YOU DROPPED IT OFF! Just like what the tracking says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK)" and NOT "ITEM ACCEPTED." .... NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET IN THIS GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE.

The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.

It's dropped into the collection bin where they retrieve it and sort it out for transporting to the destination. They scan it and that is where it provides you with the tracking information.

You have to write the to and from address on another label. You can pick those sticker labels at USPS and it's free. The paid label is just tracking for the package.

Yes. Those are always free if you use USPS shipping. The flat rate boxes are almost always cheaper than the weighed option, unless something is super light weight.

Is the shipping label that you have the option to print off ebay the same as the stamp you check off at 2:47 ? And if you print it already you just check "already stamped" on the kiosk?

Yes. If you've printed the prepaid label from eBay then you just stick it on there along with an address label. You don't have to wait in line so you can just drop it off at the designated area that says drop off for prepaid packages.

You drop it in the chute like I showed and USPS will put it in a cargo airplane in order to deliver it by air to the destination USPS and then the trucks will deliver it by drivers

Hey Jay, I’m writing a piece of fanmail and want something in return. If I include an envelope with the shipping label above would it still work or does the shipping label have to correspond with the date it was purchased? Also, If I included my own postage but wanted a tracking number, how would I be able to do this?I’m not sure if I’m clear, any help would be highly appreciated!

You will need to provide a prepaid label for the right weight and shipping type (Express, Priority etc) to the person you are sending it to so they can send you the item if they don't want to cover the shipping fee. The date doesn't have anything to do with it as long as there is the right postage amount. If you paid for the label it should come with tracking so when it is scanned and shipped by the shipper, the tracking number will be active and valid.

What really sucked ass is that we couldn't get into the post office lobby to use the Kiosk Machine because the front doors were Locked !! The lobby is supposed to be open 24 hours and to unlocked the front doors you're supposed to swipe your Debit Card through the card swipe thing next to the front doors. But it wouldn't unlock no matter how we swiped it. Why the hell do they even lock the doors to begin with ?

That sucks. I guess it depends on the city or state. The post office I use is always open even on weekends with access to the self service kiosk. My guess it's a high theft area or they simply forgot. You should ask a clerk next time.

Are you shipping it via USPS or unmarked boxes because you can't use fedex UPS DHL in their drop off boxes. If you are using the correct boxes and have the address label and shipping label already attached, then you can use the drop off box or you can leave it on the counter during their normal business hours.

@@Jay_Rule Quick question I always put my prepaid packages on the counter for it to get scanned by the clerks but there would also be times were there are 0 clerks because they are in the back and I get anxiety when I leave my packages on the counter when I see a long line of people because I feel like my packages would get stolen especially during the holidays but I also see some other customers who just toss them in one of those beige postal hampers how would they know if it gets scanned if they just toss their packages in there? I once saw a customer unloading all his packages from an ikea bag into one of those beige postal hampers and was wondering if I can do that as well since the counter space at my local post office is very small
