I recently bought some premades. It’s my first tome trying them. I think they’re nice to have on hand like when a client books a fill but comes in needing a fullset. U can use them to get her to the fullset but in the time for a fill.

I’ve gotten some from LLBA .. I got the promade fans 5D 0.07 CC curl one’s and I feel like they looked so light. Like almost as if they weren’t fully black like normal extensions . I really wanna know where they sell premade fans that look as if I made the fan myself :(

Why do all lash techs not use premade fans? Is the retention not as good as creating your own fans as you go? I’m so curious!

Yes. Your correct. Not all premade fans are good and not all premade fans give you the best retention. And they are more expensive to buy. One full set will waste about .5-1 full box of premade fans depending on how many are in a box and each box costs roughly around 30-45$. If that lash artist charged $100 for a full set then she only made a a profit of say $45. If she has more than one client she has to have enough premade fans for each client. So imagine how much of her money is going just to keep buying premade fans. She won't make enought to sustain herself. Compared to someone who makes her fans as she goes. One tray costs about $10-20 and they can use that same lash tray on 1-3 clients depending if it's a full set or fill. And of she's charging $100 she made a profit of $80-90. The real artistry of being a lash artist is wether or not that artist can create a full set using her own fans and that's why a lot of lash techs charge so much because it's more tideous making your fans let alone doing a full set. Obviously you want to spend less and make more and also charge more by being able to be the one making your own fans. I hope this made sense.

If your doing things correctly retention should be amazing on both of them. But I prefer Royal Bond just because the dry time is a little bit faster.

Because if you get so used to just using premade fans then your stopping yourself from hand making your own. That's where the real artistry of being a lash artist comes in is when you can create full sets with handmade fans. Yes it's easier to do a full set using premade fans but it's more fulfilling when you can do a full set from scratch. So I do recommend to take a volume training and start learning to make your own fans. Premades are there to help but don't depend on them everytime.
