How to use rekordbox Stems on the OPUS-QUAD or any PDJ controller

Sidenote: the DDJ-800, 1000 & XP2 utilise a PAD mode (not MIDI mode) function which allows you to assign Track Separation/Stems. Once I get my hands on one I'll make a video on that.

Do I still have to have rekordbox running through my laptop. Is there any way to make this work with just the controller and no laptop

no you need to use a laptop, not possible without it.

if you're going this route due to stems, which I'm doing at least once for a project I'd choose Serato rather than Rekordbox. Mapping is easier, stem separation is cleaner and I set it up the same way Blake does (last three queues, I don't use all 4 buttons) I prefer Rekordbox to work out of at the moment as I've been out of Serato since I left Technics, but that may change as I get used to it.

I only made the video, implying it can be done on an opus, xdj, etc IF you want to use stems. You can't use stems as standalone, obviously.

Thanks for the video. Can you assign STEMS to the color effect buttons? E.g. assigning vocals to the crush button? If yes, can we also use to color fx potentiometers as a kind of EQ for the STEMS?

Topman Shame we can set it up through memory stick or import the settings with the library but that not your fault. The instructions was good but in a couple of places was a bit confusing for a first timer but got there eventually. 🎉🎉🎉

No. Stems are only available on the DJ software not inbuilt into equipment

I have 3 CDJ-3000's but looking for something more portable for mobile gigs, Unfortunately, Pioneer handicapped this "flagship" $3200 controller by eliminating the slip mode. I presume it's not something that can be mapped?

All the buttons are totally midi mapped. I've just tested this by remapping the SLIP REV to a SLIP mode in rekordbox PERFORMANCE mode & it works.

@@therealblackmoose That's interesting and could be a workaround. I presume it automatically eliminates the slip rev finction? Can it be mapped to a different button? I've never played using the performance mode on Rekordbox as I always use the export mode with CDJs.

Yes. the OPUS, or any other controller doesn't have the smarts - it's the software, just like Serato & djay. Essentially you are using the OPUS, or XDJ to 'control' rekordbox.
