I'll have to check it out Reggie, there a few Make Noise that are appealing... and I'm tempted to investigate O&C some more too..!

Cheers for this info man. I’m about to get one of these blighters and pair it up with my Subharmonicon and other semi modular kit... Nice Crass logo on display there, that takes me back a few years 🤘 New sub for thee here sire, peace ✌️

Hey Chitlun..!! Many many thanks mate, that's greatly appreciated..! Sorry for not spotting your comment sooner, and well spotted!! 😉 What other semi-modular do you use??

@@Studio-solutions-com Hey nay worries man… The other semi modular synths I have are the afore mentioned Subharmonicon, a Neutron and a Minibrute 2S. I’ve come to find the Neutron is worth the money just for the utilities it provides. I use a Beatstep Pro so the attenuators on the Neutron allow me to dial the voltage down on the drum gates from the BSP because, for some unknown reason, they Chuck out 12v so I can dial that back to more like 5v for the trigger. The MB2S is incredible due to it’s extra sequencer/modulation tracks that can be configured to send out, for example, a different env/LFO on each step. Really good set up for experimentation! I’m probably gonna get into some modular shit at some point but I’ll likely start with a small utility set up. I like the idea of putting the DFAM through a quantiser for melodic use… All good fun, peace ✌️

I'm still on the verge of selling mine...! I've just sold the M-32 as it was just collecting dust... lol. The dfam isn't really a jam-able instrument, lovely sounds though,...!

Thanks for the video! Can you explain in a bit more detail how you would achieve PWM via adjusting its duty cycle. Do you mean modulating VCO1 or 2 with an LFO?

I actually haven’t found the lack of midi too much problem, I either trigger it via my TR-08 or the Mother 32. The lack of reset is very annoying though. They did a big firmware update to the M32, so have always been hopeful of something similar for the dfam.
@Studio-solutions-com3 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve...! Yeah, I've used it as a melodic instrument with the KSP as a controller, but I still don't think it allows for a full range of expression beyond just the triggers. To be able to open it up to being used as full synth engine would be great though... as far as I know the dfam doesn't have firmware, it's purely a eurorack analog system...
@twotofourstudios2243 жыл бұрын
Being there is no midi, is it impossible to update the firmware for this quirky machine?
@Studio-solutions-com3 жыл бұрын
Hey Sunny, afaik there's no firmware available on these... they're purely analogue eurorack style units.

@@Studio-solutions-com I ran into this video today about this device, Sanoclast MAFD midi adapter for a DFAM. Have you heard of this?
@Studio-solutions-com3 жыл бұрын
I have..! Did you see a price for it Sunny? I've heard a couple of people say it's about a hundred quid?
@Studio-solutions-com3 жыл бұрын
They do a 2hp eurorack module version too... although tbh there's quite a few midi to cv modules available too
@twotofourstudios2243 жыл бұрын
@@Studio-solutions-com I have a RetroKit 005, that converts Midi to a gate signal along with my Toraiz Squid that does cv as well. Dumb question but Is it possible to play notes on my DFAM with my squid? Still learning the language of control voltage.

Very thorough analysis and assessment of the DFAM by krs-T B; with just enough dry wit to not be distracting yet fans of Synth Memes! will RTFM! Shame about the lack of midi but that has to be part of it's charm: clock to a CV trigger and work that step sequencer! The Archaic Charm of The Moog Corporation...
@Studio-solutions-com3 жыл бұрын
I find it hard to do anything without some synth meme piss taking sliding into play some days Dazza..!! Lol I'd like the midi mostly just to open this up as a synth rather than just clock it ... would be great to get that voice working properly...

Mate I love your videos. Whenever one pops up I always watch it. The thing that drives me nuts is where you are in the UK. I spent time there when I was in the (US) army in 02 in Hereford, and there was a bloke there sounded like you but we called every british soldier "squaddie" and all I remember is that he supported Wolverhampton and was what you would call a 'gob-shite.' He saved a friend of mine's life and my friend used to joke that it weren't worth having to hear the story so many times. Anyway there is some word you use for when something has a downside, like no reset on DFAM starts with a B I think. What is it please? And keep making videos.

Hey Josh, sorry mate, had no notif for your comment!! Was it Bummer?? I know Hereford well btw, lived around there for many years... in fact where my studio is now is on the site of an old Thor missile base!!

@@Studio-solutions-com HA!! so I was close! Used to be good with UK accents, still am with Irish, especially NI, where you can either tell which Belfast "hyze-ing es-teet" someone grew up in, or in the case of Fermanagh, can't understand a bloody word. Yours is one of them that's hard to place, unlike Newcastle (thats Jordie[sp], innit?) or most of London or Leeds/Liverpool or Manchester. Anyway, thanks for your answer. As for your question, Hereford was a bummer. The weather made the rest of england look like San Diego, and we did full pack marches that squaddies seemed to enjoy.
