This is by far the best review of this product. I bought one this week because I am traveling by Amtrak from Indiana to Oregon. I made this same trip 7 years ago and was surprised that I had virtually no Wi-Fi for a good part of the trip, mostly in North Dakota. I have watched a couple of other people that spoke about this unit, and they weren't as thorough as you were so thanks for that.

One of the best videos I have watched. Do have a question on how does the hub data transfer functions when in a hotel room and the hotel offers free wifi. Does the hub have to compete with the hotel's free wifi which sacrifices data transfer speed or is it truly independent and not affected by the hotel's unsecured wifi?
@WanderlustAweSyndrome Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! This hub doesn't compete with the WIFI at any hotel. In fact, this hub is more secure than a hotel's WIFI as it gets its data from phone towers. Also, you'll have your own WIFI password, which you'll be the only who knows it.
@nothingtoseehere57602 ай бұрын
hey a couple of notes - with long videos like this it is really helpful to split the content into chapters - most folk are looking for specific things e.g. does it actually come with "free" data, and what are the constraints - and watching 25 min of unrelated content to find this is probably not worth it. Also, check the mic levels - left channel is clipped, reduce gain - right channel is muted.

This video was very helpful, but i have a question. If you buy, say, the 20 day passes., do you have to use all 20 days in one block? Or can you use 2 and then save the rest for later use? We are trying to decide if this might be better for us while camping than what we currently use. Thanks for the video! It was great!
@WanderlustAweSyndrome Жыл бұрын
No, you don't have to use all your day passes. They don't expire until you use them. For example, you have 20 day passes but use only 2 of them. The 18 won't expire until you use them

problem, in signal scan, you may lose a very poor data, and connect to an even worse one, it does not necessarily find a faster alternative
@WanderlustAweSyndrome4 ай бұрын
Signal scan tries to find the best signal it can depending on your location. The location you might be in may have little to no towers, Also, some countries don't have high speed data
@Anthony__4209 ай бұрын
How fast is your connection. I was barely getting 3 mbps on mine. That’s horrible!

My connection was going fast when I last used it. Even so, your location in relation to WIFI towers will affect how fast a signal you.

can this wifi hub work in a cruise?
@WanderlustAweSyndrome Жыл бұрын
I have never used this hub on a cruise before. You could use when the boat docks for shore in another country. If you're asking if you can use it in the middle of the ocean, it won't pick up data signal as there will be no towers

going back to the usa for a visit for a month. My parents dont have wifi. 100 GB of data for $89, and paying g for the device for $140 bucks seems extreme. I average a out 200 GB a month. Are there any options through companies that sell 1 month unlimited internet that won't bust my wallet?
@WanderlustAweSyndrome Жыл бұрын
There are plenty global WIFI plans out there, but I can't give you the other options as I haven't used them. As for Solis, there are plenty of plans that are affordable options for you. I think you should do the $89 unlimited plan for one month and cancel your subscription before it renews. You can use the amount of data needed for your trip without breaking the bank. This is the best option for you IMO. Also, I'm sure you'll use WIFI at other places, but I'm not sure what you'll be doing when you return to the USA.
