Did you use straight stitch appliqué? I couldn't tell from the video. Perhaps once it's quilted, it doesn't matter how the shapes are finished.

Nice idea, much appreciated but the video was hard to watch as it was quite often blurry or out of focus. Also panning closer and farther away was a bit queasy. Thanks
