Roger uses natural gut in the mains and this is why he uses the string savers (and turbo pads), it’s to save the natural gut from snapping to quickly!

If you help the strings move more easily, it will aid friction and wear stings more than normal. Soooo, why would you call them string savers?😊 I have actually tried putting them in my hitting pattern zone and they did add to more top spin access. I also found the addition of the string savers made the string bed tighter. So, since the eighties I have tinkered with that variable. It seems like Fed helps his strings snap back on the serve and on those wicked slice shots.

String savers allow the string to move without causing friction against each other, as the string savers act as a cushion between the strings, hence why they’re called stringsavers...

Yes, Roger only uses ten on top.

Do these string savers reduce RPM on groundstrokes?

They increase the RPM in theory. In reality the difference is so small that you will not notice it.

@@RaresHidi actually it could be a huge diferenc in spin because i play with federer setup without string savers and after first week when gut starting get notch the poly is geting very hard to move so less snap-back, because it get stuck in thos notches , even for me its hard to move it with my fingers.

@@agradina You have poly in the mains. Remember, Roger´s setup has natural gut in the maíns and poly in the crosses.
